Monday morning, I wake up feeling sick, so my dad tells me to stay home and rest, and that's exactly what I do- I spend all day in bed doing nothing, but sleep. Yesterday, I called Luke and Sarah, but neither of them answered me; I guess they're still mad at me, I just don't get why. Jake told me to wait to talk to them at school, but given recent events, today won't be possible.

"Hey," Jake greets me, sitting down next to me on the bed.

"Hi," I exclaim happily. "What are you doing here?"

"I came to see how you were doing. Your dad called me and asked me to check up on you after school," Jake answers.

"What would I do without you?" I smile at him. "Is Sarah still mad at me?"

"She's not exactly mad. She's hurt you didn't tell her about Sam, and she isn't exactly thrilled about your relationship either," Jake explains.

"She obviously doesn't like Sam, I just don't get why," I state.

"You're gonna have to ask her yourself about that," Jake tells me.

"Am I interrupting something?" Sam startles us, standing by my bedroom door.

"No, I was just leaving," Jake answers and kisses my forehead. He looks at Sam before heading out and adds, "you take care of her."

"I will," Sam replies.

"What are you doing here?" I ask him, surprised to see him here.

"I didn't see you at school today, so I got worried and came to check up on you," he answers. "I see you're sick, why didn't you call me?"

I smile, "aww, you were worried about me. You've turned soft".

"Of course not!" Sam denies poorly.

"Yes, you have. Can't stay away from me, huh?" I tease him. "And to think you bullied me along with your sister, now look at you now."

"That was only because you beat my sister, but after that first day I saw you, I fell for you and your stubbornness; so part of the bullying was because I liked you," he defends himself. "I wasn't the romantic kind of guy and I didn't do relationships, now look at me? You have seriously turned my life upside down, Amanda Cole."

"Aww, you're so corny," I mock him, and he just laughs before kissing me.

He stays with me and we watch a movie before I fall asleep on his chest. I wake up the next morning disoriented, I never sensed Sam leave.

"How are you feeling, sweetheart?" my dad asks.

"I feel much better," I answer.

"Good. Are you going to school today?" he asks.

"Yes," I respond.

"Okay. If you need anything, don't doubt to call me," he tells me, kissing my forehead. "If you can, pick your sister from daycare today, and remember you're going to your mom's today."

"Ugh!" I grumble, remembering I have to go to mom's today. I don't want to go there. All we do is fight all the time.

"Can I talk to you?" I ask Sarah as I approach her in the cafeteria.

"Sure," she answers casually.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you about Sam and me, it's just... we didn't want anyone to know and I didn't know how to tell you," I explain.

"I'm not anyone, I'm your friend," she says, her voice cracks a bit. "I'm hurt you didn't trust me, but I can't stay mad at you. I forgive you," Sarah tells me smilingly.

I sigh in relief. I couldn't stand her being mad at me. "Thank you, thank you, thank you!" I hug her happily.

"Just an advice... be careful. Sam's family is dangerous," Sarah warns me. "I don't want to see you get seriously hurt." She looks serious, and her warning makes me uneasy. Why does everyone keeps telling me Sam's family is dangerous. What the hell do they do? Why does no one explain further?

I just nod and smile at her. Then, we sit together with my friends, who also forgive me, and eat lunch.

"Watch where you're going, idiot," some girl pushes me against the lockers. Not this again! "I don't know what he sees in you. I can't believe he left me to be with you." Now I get why I'm being harassed by a bunch of girls- they're jealous.

"He was never with you. He had sex with you one night and that was it, so stop believing otherwise," Lola tells the girl when she appears out of the blue. "Get lost." Being as half the girls at school fear Lola, the girl left without thinking it twice.

"What happened with your feisty side? The one with the comebacks and the one who left me in bed rest for two days?" Lola asks me. I have no idea what she's doing here or why she helped me.

"I'm just tired of the same shit every day. I don't want to keep fighting with everyone, so I just ignore them" I answer honestly. " Why do you care anyway?"

"I don't, but even I couldn't stand here and watch your pathetic face. I guess this is what you get for being with my brother," she tells me. "He screwed around a lot, so I guess you probably will have more angry girls giving you hell, so good luck." After that, she just leaves.

"You okay?" Sam asks when he spots me in the hallway.

"Yes," I answer with a forced smile. He takes my face in his hands and kisses me, sending chills down through my body. I wasn't really expecting that. This time I genuinely smile. He makes everything better.

"Come on. I'll walk you to your car," he says, smiling.

I get in my car and head to pick up Lisa from daycare. After I pick her up, I take her to go eat ice cream; she's been begging me to take her for weeks. Then, we get home and watch her favorite movie, frozen. Mom's working late, so I won't see her 'till tomorrow.
