"What are you wearing to Sarah's party?" Genesis asks interestedly. We're at lunch sitting at our usual table.

"I don't know. Jeans and a T-shirt, I guess; you know me," I answer. She knows I don't care much about dressing up for things, so I don't get why she would ask me that if she already knows my answer. I like simple.

"You're serious?" She asks again incredulously. "No way I'm gonna let you go to one of the hottest school's parties dressed in jeans and a T-shirt. I don't even think you would be allowed to the party wearing that."

"Not to mention is our first party since we got here and she's like really popular around here, so we have to make a good impression," Cristina adds.

"You guys worry too much about good impressions and fitting in, to hell with that. And besides, Sarah isn't like that, she doesn't care about her popularity nor about what others wear to her party. She's nice to everyone," I tell them seriously. I don't get their obsession with pleasing everyone and being cool. I like being myself, and if others don't like me, they're easily free to walk away.

"You're getting me wrong. I don't care what others think, I just want you to look nice," Genesis clarifies. "Who knows, you may even get yourself a boyfriend."

The guys all laugh at her words and I choke on my food at hearing her say that I might even get myself a boyfriend. I don't have time for a boyfriend right now; my time is all tied up with classes and sports.

"Boys, help us out here," the girls plead to the boys.

"She's stubborn. I don't think you can make her agree to that," Tyler responds.

"Geez, thanks for the help," Genesis tells him sarcastically.

"She looks good in whatever she wears anyway, so what's the big deal?" Chris defends me.

"Chris is right," Jake adds. "She can pull off even the ugliest shirt you can find."

"Thank you guys," I thank them smilingly, happy that they defended me against the girls.

"We were better off without your help," Cristina tells the boys, rolling her eyes. "But you're right, she does look good in everything."

"Still, we're not letting this one go," Genesis says firmly. "I'm going to annoy you until you agree to wear a dress."

"I'll agree for this one time, and this one time only," I give in before I have to endure an annoying Genesis all day.

"Great!!!" Cristina and Genesis grin widely. "Tomorrow we'll get ready at my house," Cristina adds. They are way too excited about this party.

"Hey weirdo, need to talk to you," Lola startles me.

"Too bad! I don't want to talk with you," I tell her while pushing her away to walk by past her; but she grabs my arm and pulls me back.

"Said I need to talk to you," She says again, angrier.

"What do you want?" I ask annoyed.

"When do I start playing?" She asks.

"What?" I ask, confused by her question.

"Are you deaf? I asked, when do I start playing?" She asks again.

"Oh, about that... you're not getting a spot in any of the teams. I talked with the coaches, but they said the teams are full and they can't accept someone new at this point," I answer honestly.

"Listen to me, you idiot. You're gonna find a way to get me in, ok?" She threatens, grabbing my wrist. I pull back my arm from her grip; she left a mark on my wrist.
