"We gotta find a way around" I looked at Joel
"Yeah, through here." He motioned to a hole we could crawl through.
"Wait shh shh."
"What?"
"Clickers."
I found some tape and a sharp rock and made a shiv. Taking out the clickers one by one.

We got upstairs, hearing Tess struggle.

"Tess!" Joel ran up to her and took out the infected.
"You okay?"
"Yea-"
"GUYS GET IN HERE"
I heard Ellie and immediately ran to her and stabbed the runner that was trying to get her.
"Motherfucker." Ellie sighed and picked up glass bottles and threw them at infected, making it easier for us to take them out.

As we finished taking them out, I reached in my back pocket and felt that I still had her switchblade.
"I think this belongs to you." I gave it back to her.
"Thief" She pushed me lightly with a smile on her face.
"You gave it to me!"
"I didn't think it would take this long for you to get back to me."
"I was too busy saving your life"
She sighed in relief.
"Thanks for that."
"Of course"
I saw Tess leaned over an open window.
"Hey, how're you holding up?" Joel approached her.
"I'm fine, just a bit winded. This way" She crawled out of the window on to the roof and everyone followed suit.
"How are we gonna get across?" Ellie asked looking at Joel
I just ran, got on the railing and jumped across.
"LOGAN WHAT THE FUCK?" Tess and Joel screamed at me.
"I made it across didn't i? I chuckled.
"You could've fucking died!" Ellie chimed in.
"Yes, but I didn't" Joel scoffed
Joel put a plank and Ellie walked across and so did Joel, then Tess.
When Ellie walked across, she pushed me.
"Don't scare me like that again, asshole!" She had a saddened look on her face.
"I'm sorry."
She sighed.
"Well is that every you hoped for" Joel asked Ellie
"Well, jury's still out, but man, can't deny that view" As Ellie walked towards me, I saw Joel's saddened expression and knew who he thought about.
Tess was saying something to Joel as Ellie and I got off the roof of the building but I didn't get to hear it.
"What do you want to do after all of this is over?" I asked Ellie
"Well, I doubt we can go back to Boston, so just find some other place to stay, i guess. What about you?"
"You heard me earlier, where you go, I go"
Tess and Joel caught up. And right at the foot of the capital building was a big pool of water.
"Just so it's out there, I can't swim."
"You still haven't learned?"
"No!"
"Wow, that's kind of sad."
"Oh fuck off"
"You wish"
Tess cut us off
"Knock it off you two. It looks shallow over here. Come on."
"Hey, I know you're getting payed to do this"
"Yeah, what do you mean?" Tess looked back at Ellie
"I'm trying to say thanks."
"Don't mention it."

We opened the door to the capital building.
"No, NO NO!" Tess started panicking and searching the bodies of the Fireflies.
"Now what?"
I looked at Ellie and then at Tess.
"Tess what are you doing?"
"Maybe.. Maybe they had a map t-to tell us where they were going."
"Oh she only ever mentioned it was someplace out west." Ellie chimed in.
Joel approached Tess.
"Tess, this is not us."
"What do you know about us, about me?"
"I know that you're smarter than this."
"Guess what, we're shitty people Joel, it's been that way for a long time."
"It's over"
If i could just-"
"IT IS OVER TESS! Let's just go home"
"I'm not... I'm not going anywhere. This is my last stop."
"What?"
"Our luck had to run out sooner or later."
Joel went to grab Tess' arm.
"NO DONT. Don't touch me"
Ellie took a step forward.
"Holy shit, she's infected"
Joel was shocked.
"Let me see it."
"Joel I-"
"Show it to me!"
Tess pulled her shirt back and there was a huge red mark and bite on her collarbone and shoulder. "Oops right."
"Oh, christ." I almost fell to my knees.
"Give me your arm." Tess grabbed Ellie's arm.
"This is three weeks! I was bitten an hour ago and it's already worse, this, is fucking real Joel!"
"THEYRE IN HERE!" We heard coming from the other side of the wall.
"Go, I can buy you some time but you need to get out of here."
"I can fight-"
"Joel, just fucking go, you and Logan take her to Tommy's."
"Tess-"
"Go. Just fucking go."
"Logan, Ellie. Get a move on."
"I'm sorry I didn't mean for this." Ellie looked like she could burst into tears.

I grabbed her arm and ran into the doors at the end of the room. Joel closed the door and all we heard were gunshots.
