a/n: this is a little over a month before the first chapter.
Logan's POV-
Ellie was at her military boarding school, as usual. I snuck in to see her. I felt bad as we had an argument the last time we saw each other.
She was sleeping in her bed as I walked slowly up to her and shook her, making the sound infected make in order to scare her, pretending to bite her neck.
"What the fuck?! Logan?" She screamed as I woke her up. I started dying of laughter.
"You should see your face right now" I grabbed my stomach as I calmed down from my laughter.
"Hey.." She got up and just stared at me awkwardly.
"Hey." I sighed as I looked back at her.
"I haven't seen you in... i don't even know how long."
"45 days... 46, technically."
"All this time, i thought you were dead." She looked sad.
"Yeah.. Here, look." I took off the firefly dog tag from around my neck and passed it to her.
"No way."
I chuckled and looked up at the top bunk bed.
"Still no roommate?"
Ellie was still looking at the dog tag.
"You're a firefly."
"Not yet. I haven't started training yet so."
"Pft."
I looked at her wall to see that Ellie had a polaroid with us taped onto it.
"Holy shit... you still have it up?"
She ignored me and went to the door and checked the hallway.
"What are you doing?"
"Making sure I don't get caught with a firefly in my room."
"Relax. There's no soldiers on the entire floor."
Ellie just stared at me, kinda pissed off.
"Here... congrats." She tried to hand me the dog tag but I grabbed her hand.
"Hey.. We good?" I didn't know what else to say besides that.
She swung her arm back to her side and huffed.
"Are we good?" She said, annoyed.
"I disappeared and you're mad."
"Yeah."
"And I owe you an explanation. Here, follow me and I'll tell you all about it." I turned around and paced a little to avoid eye contact.
"It's almost morning, and I have military drills. You know? Where we learn how to kill firefly's."
I threw her jeans at her.
"Put some pants on and let's get out of here."
"So dumb.." She sighed.
"Come on... when have we ever gotten into trouble?"
We went out the door and onto the roof.
