"Alright, let's go" I pushed Ellie lightly in front of me.
As Bill was unlocking the door he said something about not knowing what lays past the gate, but i wasn't paying attention as I was replaying that day in my head.
"Hey, you okay?"
I didn't answer.
"Logan?" Ellie stopped in front of me.
I knew that if i looked up at her i'd get sad but i did it anyway.
"Uhm yeah, yeah i'm fine. totally.. fine."
"You look upset."
"it's fine let's just not talk about this now, please?"
"okay" she gave me a small hug and kept walking.
--Time Skip--
"You. Close the door." I closed the cellar door.
"Alright time to load up."
Ellie walked with them but they didn't let her get a gun.
"Can you believe that?" Ellie walked up to me in disbelief, but i was spaced out.
"Logan?" She shook my arm lightly.
"Shit, yeah?" i looked up at her.
"Okay, what's wrong?"
"Nothing" i looked back at the ground.
"I'm not stupid, clearly somethings up."
I stayed in silence.
She intertwined her hand in mine. "You can talk to me."
I started to tear up and sniff.
"I can't stop thinking about that day, the day you got bit. I thought I lost everything, that day."
"Everything?"
"Yes Ellie. Everything. You're my everything. I'm so sorry for leaving you."
She put her arms around my neck and hugged me. "Shhh.. It's okay. I'm so happy you're here with me. I don't want to lose you"
As she said that my heart started racing.
"We aren't apart anymore, so you don't have to worry."
She kept whispering sweet nothings as i held her, and right before she let go, she kissed behind my ear. But not in a sexual way. In a safe, and loving way, causing me to get a bit red.
"Thanks, El"
"What would you do without me?" She smiled
I playfully sighed "pshh i don't knoww"
She giggled and started looking at Bill's massive collection of magazines.
"Hey! Don't touch my stuff!"
"I'm just organizing your stupid pile!"
"No! Don't!"
Ellie flipped the finger at him and i couldn't help but giggle.
She took a few in her backpack.
Bill and Joel called us over as they opened a door.
--Time Skip--
Bill told us about an engine we need from the school, so that's where we went.
We made it out of the school after killing that fucking bloater thing and ended up in a house.
Joel and Bill started arguing so Ellie and I went to look around and saw a car in the garage.
"Ooh lookey here." I got in the drivers seat and tried to start it. The sound caused Bill and Joel to come in the garage.
"Hey guys, this car, it can work. The cells are alive." They all looked at me puzzled.
"What?"
"How, the fuck do you know that?" Bill was the most puzzled of them all.
"I read it in a mechanical book."
"Well then."
"So what do we do now?"
"You let Ellie drive and we push."
"Okay, i'll cover you" Bill and Joel nodded as Ellie got into the front seat.
I looked at her. "You still know how to pop a clutch right?" She nodded.
--Time Skip--
"Alright this is enough!" Bill smacked the side of the car.
Joel and Bill got out of the car and I just sat there spacing out again.
"Logan?"
"Hm. Yeah?"
"What did you mean by 'losing everything'"
"Well you're what keeps me going you know? Without you i was, lost. I couldn't sleep, i didn't eat. You're all i thought about."
Her bright green eyes looked deeply into mine.
"You okay El?" I asked as she just stared.
"Yeah, better than okay." She bit her lip and just stared at me, her face getting redder and her smile getting wider. My eyes kept going from her eyes to her lips, making me lick my lips. I wanted to lean in but when Joel went up to the window we noticed and stopped staring.
Joel smirked as he told Ellie to go to the backseat. I couldn't stop smiling.
I said under my breath in disbelief.
