Hawkfeather stood outside the nursery, with four cats in front of him. One he loved, two that he would eventually love, and one that he had no relation to. He felt empty with it, like he had been betrayed. Though, the cat was innocent, it had nothing against Hawkfeather. It loved him.
Hawkfeather woke up to something hitting his side. It was Hollyfrost waking him up.
"What's the matter?" he asked sleepily.
"I need to talk to you. Come with me outside of camp," she whispered. Hawkfeather slowly got up and followed her out of camp, careful to not let anyone see. While they were sneaking out into the forest, Hawkfeather finally broke the silence.
"I had a weird dream right before you woke me up. I didn't understand it up at all."
"Did it have anything to do with the problem with Shadowstar?"
"I don't think so."
"Then I wouldn't worry about it. It was probably just a normal dream," she just kept her eyes ahead of her.
Hollyfrost finally stopped behind some bushes deep in the forest.
"Did we have to go this far?" he asked.
"I just want to make sure that no one is following us. But I want you to help me do something," she had deep meaning in her eyes.
"I'll do anything for you."
"Well, I want you to help me find Mooncross. No one has even bothered to care about him. I already know what you're thinking. He's still my friend and I just want to make sure he's alright and that nothing bad happened to him," she lowered her eyes.
Hawkfeather hesitated for a moment. "Hey, it's alright. As long as it puts a smile on your face," he licked her cheek.
"Alright, let's go," she smiled with excitement. They walked through sharp thorns that stabbed Hawkfeather's feet.
"Where do you expect him to-"
Hawkfeather whipped his head around as he heard Hollyfrost squeaked with surprise, but she wasn't there.
"Hollyfrost?" he strained his eyes to try to find her. All he heard was soft laughing.
"Don't play games with me. You know how hard it is for others to see you in the dark," he started to worry.
"Not for Mooncross," Hollyfrost laughed quietly from somewhere around Hawkfeather. She got up from a spot behind some undergrowth, still laughing. Not long after, another figure arose next to her. It was Mooncross.
"What was that? You just...disappeared," Hawkfeather uttered to Hollyfrost.
"While you weren't paying attention to me and looking around for Mooncross, he just snatched me right out of my place. He could carry me around like I'm his kit!" she chuckled. Mooncross just sat next to her, smiling.
"Except you've gotten heavier with those kits," Mooncross's tail lay on top of her's.
"Alright Hollyfrost, we found him. Now what?" he walked over and picked her up by the scruff like Mooncross did. She still laughed as he brought her back to side.
"Well, we get answers," her expression was serious all of a sudden. "Why did you disappear all of a sudden? And did you really control a clan leader?"
"I disappeared because I knew that if I controlled a clan leader and started a war with them, then it would get me into a lot of trouble. I could get killed. And yes, I controlled Lightstar. Shadowstar is getting to my head, and Wolftail is already a proud servant of him. I'm sorry for all that I've done. I didn't mean for you to get hurt, Hollyfrost," he dipped his head in apology.
