None of us cared about that small blob of toothpaste you put on the toothbrush. It is toothpaste...right? Apparently not. The official name of the blob of toothpaste on your brush is called the nurdle.
Weird, right? It gets worse. There was a giant law suit between world wide toothpaste companies Colgate and Glaxco about how their nurdles are depicted. Colgate advertises a 'triple action' where the nurdle has a blue, white and green strip. Glaxco advertises 'triple protection' with a red, white and blue nurdle.
The actual dispute was about the protection of each of their phrases 'triple action' and 'triple protection' in which the dispute was resolved after settling the colours of the nurdles which are unique to each brand.
The whole court dispute can be read online if you're into that sort of thing. To look it us, the case is GlaxoSmithKline LLC v. Colgate-Palmolive Co, U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York, No. 10-05739.
