CHAPTER 9: Family Dinner

Aric was feeling great, jogging had put him in a good mood, plus he had made a new beautiful man-eating siren friend. He opened the door to his house the sound of his parents arguing assaulting her ears, "Helen please let me explain!" Said Gordon "no don't explain! Just-just let me think" she said as she made herself a cup of coffee, "mom I'm back" said Aric as he grabbed a bottle of water "how was your jog?" Helen asked as she started up breakfast, Aric shrugged "it was okay" he said as he climbed upstairs to his room.
"Where did you find him Mr. Patterson?" Sheriff Brent asked, "I was out jogging and then he attacked me but I managed to tie him up" Mr. Patterson replied "who is this guy?" Cal asked, Cal and his dad were coming back from Ben's cafe after a hearty breakfast when Mr. Patterson called "that is Mr. Bane" said Sheriff Brent "normally I would have interogatted him but he's in no condition to answer my questions" said Sheriff Brent as he whipped out his phone "who are you calling?" Cal asked "Ace Homes" Sheriff Brent replied, "hello Harriet there's a man, Mr. Steven Bane he needs to be taken in" said Sheriff Brent "where are you?" Harriet asked "by the creek in the woods" Sheriff Brent replied "okay, we're on our way" she replied.
"So you guys found Mr.Bane?" Cam asked "well, some dude living in the woods found him" Cal replied, everyone was currently gathered in Mr. Ronsith's lair "did your dad ask him anything?" Adriàn asked, Cal snorted "Mr. Ban was taken to Ace Homes when we found him he looked and acted like a rapid dog, I don't think he's going to be answering any questions" said Cal "great" Reese muttered sarcastically "have you guys found anything?" Kimberly asked "nothing" Elenore replied "great we're stumped and God knows who next the druagars are going to kill" said Sage, "well, we know that the Dragon's Gem has to from norse mythology and not greek mythology, I mean since the Draugars are norse" said Mr. Ronsith "do any of you by chance know a norse mythology expert?" Will asked, they shook their heads "well, we're on our own" said Jake "I'll search up on norse mythology and see if I can find anything" said Kimberly.
"Mom I don't wanna go!" Reese moaned as Sara strapped on her shoes "well you have to, we're having a simple family dinner with the Thames" said Sara she looked pretty in her yellow summery dress and high heeled sandals, "he hates Aric" said Hina as she pinned her messy bangs with sparkly blue hair clips she was wearing a short sleeved rainbow dress with black flats, her hair was done in two bunches held with pink sparkly ribbons, and her left wrist was stacked with colorful plaited bracelets that had japanese charms on them "how do I look?" she asked "colorful" Reese replied "thanks,and you could use some color yourself" she said handing him a bracelet, he was dressed in a navy blue turtle neck and black jeans with vans, "thanks" he said.
Aric groaned his day couldn't get worse his mom and dad were downstairs pretending to be in love which was just cringy to watch, Aric tied his shoe laces as the doorbell rang "Aric go answer the door!" His mom yelled from the dinning room where she was setting up the table as he ran downstairs and opened the door, glaring at Reese who glared back, before giving Sara and Hina warm smiles "hi I'm Aric" he said sticking out his hand for handshake "Hina" she giggled "and I'm Sara" said Sara "you look so young to be a mom" said Aric, Sara giggled as Reese glared at him "I'm his stepmom" she said as Aric ushered them into the house "flirt" Reese muttered under his breath. So far dinner had been okay with light conversation here and there that Reese and Aric obviously didn't take part in they were too busy glaring daggers at each other as they eat, "so Reese where's your dad?" Gordon as, Reese grimmaced "I don't have one" he replied, "oh" said Helen and Gordon at the same time "nah, it's okay" he said as he took a sip of water "so Aric, Reese tells me you're the captain of the football team" said Sara "yes ma'am" Aric replied "I was made captain this year" he said "wow, that's nice" said Sara "show-off" Reese muttered, "so Reese how's school going?" Helen asked, Reese shrugged "the usual but I joined the football team" said Reese, Helen stared at him in disbelief, "seriously?" She asked trying to mask her surprise "don't worry mom, I was also suprised that the dweeb could play football with his princess figure" said Aric, "Aric!" Said Helen "what? We were both thinking the same thing" said Aric, "I'm sorry I don't want to work out for two hours in the gym for some chic to drool over my body" said Reese "Reese!" Said Sara "I'm just saying the truth" said Reese "I'm sorry I don't want to look like snow-white's twin brother, I mean seriously how do we know you're not some hermaphrodite in disguise" said Aric as Reese glared at his in furry gripping his fork tightly the lights flashed on and off, the ground rumbled as shadows swirled across the walls and Aric swore he saw Reese's pupils turn silver. Hina secretly whipped out her phone she texted Adriàn
Hina: guys I'm at Aric's house and Reese looks like he wants to murder this guy.
Adriàn: can you calm him down before he does something he'll regret
Hina : I don't think I can calm him down, he looks furious
Adriàn: just make sure he doesn't say anything stupid
Hina: I'll try my best
"Will you two calm down" said Gordon, Reese took a sip of water and Aric leaned back in his chair "so Rese how are the science courses going?" Helen asked as Reese's face brightened "great!" He said as Aric snorted those are the only classes he's passing" said Aric, Reese turned red Aric couldn't tell if it was from embarrassment or anger, "at least I don't a B- in physics class" said Reese "yeah, I don't get Fs and D's in twelve subjects" said Aric, "okay Mr. Man-whore at least I'm not listing after every girl that exists!" Reese yelled "says the girl-friend stealer, dating another guy's girlfriend behind his back!" Aric yelled back "it's not like she even liked you it was just a stupip-" Reese never finished the sentence because Aric pounced on him knocking him over, as Aric pinned Reese to the ground punching the boy, "Aric get off him!" Helen yelled as Gordon tried to pry Aric off Reese, Hina quicky sent a text to Adriàn
Hina: correction, Aric nearly killed Reese
Aric was still struggling against his dad, as Sara and Helen helped Reese up, his face was covered in blood and Hina was pretty sure Aric broke his nose, Helen frantically handed Reese tissues while Sara mopped of his face,"let me go!" Aric yelled he looked furious and was still struggling against his dad, but Hina could tell he wasn't only angry, he was sad he was still struggling as his dad attempted to drag him away "Reese does it hurt?" Sara asked "yeah, a lot" said Reese "you better be happy I didn't ruin your pretty face!" Aric yelled, as Reese glared at him, "this is why she doesn't like you, you're nothing more than a man-whore brute!" Said Reese and it was times like this that Hina wished that Reese would learn to shut up, because Aric broke free from his dad, pushing past the two women, he pounced on Reese. Again. Today is not his dad Hina thought as Aric pinned him down again "Aric leave him alone!" Helen screamed as Gordon tried to yank Aric off Reese but that wasn't happening, "I hate you! And your stupid perfect girly face! There e is absolutely nothing amazing about you! You just look like a pretty girl! You're not a man you're just a weak fragile excuse for a-" Hina hit a small vein on Aric's neck and the boy slumped sideways so his dad could finally pick him up "thanks" said Helen "and I am So sorry about my son" said Helen "no problem" said Sara "are you alright Reese?" Sara asked as Hina and Sara helped him up, "yeah" he replied in a small voice.
"Reese seriously are you okay?" Sara asked as she helped clean Reese's bruised face, he nodded but Hina could see as plain as day that Reese wasn't alright he looked pained and not because of his bruised which Hina had to admit did not make the boy look any less pretty, she made up her mind as the caring younger sister she was she would talk to Reese about it.
Hina knocked on the door "come in" Reese replied, "hey" said Hina, Reese was laying on his bed staring at the ceiling, "hey" he replied as Hina dropped a bowl of skittles beside his bed "do you want to talk about it?" She asked "no" he replied, "do you want me to get Adriàn?" she asked, Reese nodded.
Ten minutes later Adriàn stormed into the house muttering curses as he entered Reese's room, "what happened to your face?" Adriàn asked, "Aric" Reese replied "that douchebag I swear I'm-" "no, it's okay he's right there's absolutely nothing amazing about me, I'm just a girly boy" said Reese as he stared at his ceiling tears dripping down his face, as Adriàn flopped down on the bed beside him, "don't say that about yourself, he's wrong it's not your fault you look like a girl you can't change that about yourself" said Adriàn as Reese turned to face him, his eyes wet, he gave him a wobbly smile "thanks Adriàn" said Reese as Adriàn smiled back at him "go to sleep Reese" he said  as he turned off the lights and he fell asleep.
