Caitlin was barely functioning. All she did was go to work and then come home, and try to relax, but she found it hard to do after everything. It didn't help that Barry left little pictures and messages for her in her mailbox everyday, saying he was sorry and that he did really love her. Caitlin sighed, this was too much. She knew what she had to do. The next day, Caitlin went to see her boss

"Can you please tell your son to stop bothering me? I told him we're through, why doesn't he get the message?"

"Look Caitlin, I don't know what happened between you two, but my son is really miserable without you?"

"So?"

"Is there any chance you can talk this through and give him another chance?"

"No, I can't"

"Why not?"

"Trust is very important to me and your son broke that trust. I have nothing left for him now, not even forgiveness"

"Ok but listen. Our hospital is being honoured for the work we do, so there's a big ball coming up. Better doll yourself up"

"When?"

"I'll let you know"

Caitlin was on her way home, when she saw a fight spilling onto the street. She watched from afar and saw some people lying on the street. Her nurses instinct kicked in, and she rushed over to help.

"Barry, what the hell happened?"

"I didn't think you cared"

"I don't. But I'm a nurse. I have a duty of care. Now shut up and let me examine you"

Barry watched happily as Caitlin did her job. After everything, he was glad she was still professional enough to do her job, and not let anything get in the way.

"Can you stand?"

"Why?"

"I want you to get checked over in the hospital. I think there might be an internal injury"

Barry moaned as Caitlin helped him to his feet. He stumbled to the hospital, moaning in pain. Once inside he was whisked off to X-ray. Caitlin paced the hospital floors, whilst waiting for Barry.

"Caitlin"

"Barry, how's Barry?"

"Well your instincts were right. There is some internal injury. He's being prepped for surgery as we speak"

"Good, I'm glad to hear he'll be ok"

"Thank you Caitlin. You have potentially saved his life"

"I didn't do anything special sir, just what you told me. Always trust your instincts"

"But even after everything?"

"Sir, I'm a nurse. I have a duty of care. I took an oath when I started practicing, that I would help anyone, no matter what. So please no need to thank me"

Caitlin paced the halls, whilst Barry was in surgery. She went to the chapel,  and sat down and prayed

Dear god. It's me Caitlin. I come before you today to ask you to help save Barry's life. I know after everything,  I shouldn't be asking but I'm a nurse and Barry's my patient and I don't want to lose my patient, no matter what happened in the past. Please god. Please save Barry
