Chapter 9

"Are you sure you're not going back with me?" I asked Anna while leaning on my car. The sun's now gone.

"Yeah, I'll stay here for the mean time. Doon muna ako makikitulog kina Manong Rogelio." She smiled at me.

"May mga damit ka ba na magagamit diyan?" I asked again.

"Of course! Ako pa, don't worry girl. I can manage myself. Get moving already, baka malate ka pa sa pupuntahan mo," she motioned.

"Okay, call me when there's a problem. Nagpaalam na din ako kina Manong Rogelio kanina, pakisabi salamat." I opened the door of my car and hopped in but before I started the engine ay ibinaba ko muna ang bintana at tinignan si Anna.

"I'm fine, thanks for the company by the way," She said and I nodded.

"Anna," I called her as I started the engine.

"Yeah? What is it?" tiningnan ko muna siya ng ilang saglit bago ako nagsalita.

"Ang panget mo kapag umiiyak, swear," I said laughing at pinaharurot na ang kotse habang humahalakhak.

I received a text from Miguel, it was the address of the restaurant and it's just near in my condo so I decided to head home muna so that I can change. Pagdating ko doon ay naabutan ko si Miguel na naghihintay habang mayroong pinapanuod sa phone. Hindi niya ako napansin kaya naman lumapit ako sa likuran at tinignan kung ano iyong pinapanuod niya. My mouth formed an 'o' nang mapagtanto ko na video iyon ng isang babae na kumakata habang tumutugtog ng gitara. She had shoulder-length hair and a very angelic face. She was wearing a cute flowy white dress and her voice is very cold to the ears, masarap pakinggan actually. The video, I think is kuha ni Miguel mismo e, it's in a bar.

"How sweet," I commented na siyang nagpabigla sa kanya. Agad nanlaki ang mata niya at dali-daling itinago ang phone.

"Hey! Why are you sneaking behind my back?" taranta niyang sabi. Hinila ko ang upuan sa harap niya at naupo doon.

"You know what? Liking someone is not a crime that's why you don't need to hide it from me," I said and placed my bag sa isa pang upuan.

"Oh, stop talking nonsense."

"I'm not! Why are you denying it anyway?" I said and scanned the menu. I'm craving. Hindi na ako kumain pa kanina galing kina Manong Rogelio and the Adobo was already digested from my stomach, I think.

"You're just jumping into your hunches. I'm not denying anything."

"Okay Miguel, if you say so," I said. Hindi ko din naman mapipilit ang isang 'to. Lumapit ang isang waiter at kinuha ang order namin.

"By the way, how was tita? I haven't heard from her for quite a while now," I leaned on the table since wala pa naman ang order namin.

"She's fine. She's doing great. You need to call her if you get the time though, she misses you already and she said she'd like a drink," Miguel laughed. Tinakpan ko nalang ang mukha ko sa kahihiyan. Dati kasi noong nasa Australia pa ako, palagi akong nalalasing and I would call random people and invite them to drink with me. It was embarrassing because I happened to call Miguel's mom frequently.

"Don't hide your face there, you're so confident when you do that back then." Dumating ang order namin kaya iniayos ni Miguel iyong mga kubyertos ko and also my food before dealing with his. Dati na niya na iyon ginagawa kahit noong nasa Australia pa kami, I honestly thought na magbabago iyong gesture na 'yon pagkatapos niyang umamin sa akin but I was wrong, until now kapag magkasama kaming kumain ay siya pa din ang nag-aayos ng kubyertos ko pati pagkain, like a big bro.

"Thanks," I said at sinimulang kumain, "But that was because I am so drunk, I'm not in the right state you know," I added.

"That is the reason why you should not let yourself drink alone, you should actually consider yourself lucky because you haven't done anything much more embarrassing than that, you hard-headed witch," He casually said at sumubo ng pagkain. Much more embarrassing? Biglang nag-init ang pisngi ko nang maalala iyong kahihiyan na nagawa ko kay Kiel noong nalasing ako, my goodness! Napasubo na lang din ako ng pagkain nang dire-diretso.
