Rochester, New York:

Kyle comes to work early, a year and a half ago today he was transferred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, this change meant he would finally begin the experience process required for him to begin his masters as a Pediatric Neonatal Nurse Practitioner.

As he heads inside, he was notified of an accident that took place at the mall where a car crashed into a baby store, leaving several injured, among them a six-month pregnant woman.

They rush him to the ER where one of the obstetricians is already waiting along with a team to address the situation and compartmentalize from there on how to proceed with the case.

As he entered the ER, he ran into Andrew Melton, who bumps him on the shoulder "My apologies" Says Melton as he turns to look at him, Kyle nods to him and continues to the area where he was being needed.

At that moment, the gurney comes in, they rush the patient in, Kyle proceeds to put on the IV catheter, he hangs the 1000ml .9 normal saline serum. He proceeds to take her vitals and monitor her heart rate as the doctor checks on the baby.

In a flash moment, he helps the doctor put the belt on the mom to see how the baby is doing, the monitor showed 164 heartbeats per minute, the doctor tries to help stable the mother to keep the baby within normal range.

Once the situation has been handled, Kyle steps out of the room, he overhears a woman asking for assistance speaking in Spanish, at that moment Malcolm spots him "Kyle, do you think you could help? She speaks Spanish and I can barely understand her"
He steps towards her, clears his throat, and introduces himself "Hola, mi Nombre es Kyle Sandoval, soy enfermero del hospital, me podrías decir a que se debe tu visita?

The Hispanic woman turns to him with a worried look and an aggravated tone "Mi esposo, lo trajeron en ambulancia, nos dijeron que vendría a este hospital, yo no pude venir con el por los niños, no tenia quien me los cuidara pero ahora, ahora me dicen que no hay nadie con su nombre en el hospital"

Kyle puts a gentle hand on her shoulder "Me podría decir el nombre de su esposo?"

She responds with a soft smile "Armando Jose Gutierrez"

Kyle turns towards Malcolm "She is trying to find her husband, he was brought in an ambulance, his name is Armando Jose Gutierrez, they're telling her he's not here"

Malcolm nods at him "Alright, give me a second, I will check the records of admissions, stay with her please"

As Malcolm walks away Kyle turns back to the woman who grabs his hand and starts crying as she speaks "Nosotros estamos aquí con una green card, nosotros no le hacemos mal a nadie, el tuvo un accidente en la casa, y si alguien llamo a ICE?"

Kyle gives her a gentle squeeze knowing what having ICE involved could mean for an immigrant even with a green card

"Señora, mientras su esposo esté admitido en un hospital ICE no tiene derecho a llevárselo, y no se sienta obligada a dar explicaciones"

At that moment the husband of another patient that overheard them talking in Spanish came forward and started shouting at Kyle while picking him with his finger "I DON'T KNOW WHO YOU THINK YOU ARE OR WHAT YOU'RE DOING HELPING THIS ILLEGAL, BUT THIS IS AMERICA SPEAK ENGLISH OR GO BACK TO YOUR COUNTRY"
