It was on purpose...

But I was already late.

"Hello? Nanami... I've sent you the address. The police should arrive here any moment now..."

"Another victim?"

"Yes, but it's not that curse who did it."

Looking at the gruesome scene in front of me, I pulled the blankets over the body to cover up her condition.

At the Yoshino's residence, I arrived at the scene where a woman, Yoshino Nagi, was laying in her bedroom with her lower half missing. The curse who did it was already gone before I arrived.

It wasn't a technique, she was just directly mauled by cursed spirits.

The victim was the mother of Yoshino Junpei, the boy that is suspected to be related to the case that Nanami was working on. The boy's mother was killed from a curse that was attracted with Sukuna's finger. And the finger was in their house.

Why was it there?

"Is Yoshino Junpei still there?" Nanami spoke.

Jumping out of the house and peering over the roofs of the neighborhood, the sirens coming from the police cars echoed much closer now.

"No. There was no one else home. However, I suspect that the boy flees... Their door was open and there were missing shoes from their shoe rack."

Is the son aware of curses and such? Because from my experience, civilians who see deaths caused by curses would normally be in shock.

But the boy ran away.

"I found Sukuna's finger on the trashcan, by the way. I'll hand it to you, wait for me at the college." I then brought up before going back to where I left Itadori.

"Abe, I think it's better if you don't tell Itadori-kun about the finger."

"Okay. I got it...Itadori's with me, we're going back now."

"Thank you. Sorry for troubling you." Nanami mentioned.

I let out a smile.

"Trouble? You're not a trouble, Nanamin. I'll be expecting a treat, though. Barbecue sounds nice." I stated obviously.

He let out a sigh before ultimately agreeing to my whim, "Uhh... Okay. Got it."

Yey! Barbecue!

I got back to Itadori where he was sleeping soundly at a community playground just a few blocks from the scene. It was the closest to the station so bringing him or perhaps carrying shouldn't be a problem at all.

I checked the time, it was already 2:45 in the morning.

No wonder I can see my breath in the air as I breathe.

Now then...

"Let's go back, Itadori-kun. Sorry for knocking you-" I placed his arms on my shoulder with his chest on my back.

Crap.

I was planning on carrying him on a piggyback-ride but then his weight was no joke.

The boy was heavy.

"How are you so heavy?" I heaved, trying to stand up carefully with him on my back.

Now I'm not sure that if I take a step, we won't trip. He's seriously heavy.

Well, a step one-by-one shouldn't hurt...

With his arms around my shoulders and whole body leaning against my back, I held him tight as I drag him with me to the station. It was like carrying several backpacks all at once, all containing boulders and rocks.
