It was a late summer evening, and both laughter and frustrated sounds could be heard from the living room of the Decker-Morningstars, more commonly referred to as the Deckerstars.

The laughter was Trixie's, and the frustrated sounds belonged to Lucifer. He was kneeling on the floor, trying to teach Trixie the basic footwork of jive.

Chloe was sitting silently on the couch, smiling as she watched them. Trixie kept doing the exact opposite of what Lucifer was saying, and Chloe could see that while Lucifer was acting annoyed, he was still trying to supress a smile.

"No, urchin, you're doing it all wrong." he mumbled in frustration. Trixie didn't stop laughing. "Now, left hand on my shoulder, there, and foot up- step- side- step."

It looked hilarious. Trixie doing it clumsily and all wrong on purpose, and Lucifer trying to dance on his knees. Chloe couldn't help but burst out laughing. They both stopped and looked at her, and Chloe mumbled a low apology, but the smile never left her face.

Trixie started kicking wildly with her feet, spinning around and, in Chloe's opinion, looked pretty good. Trixie was, no doubt, a pretty decent dancer, but Lucifer pretended not to notice that part.

"This simply won't do." He mumbled. "Detective! Get up here." And with that Lucifer grabbed Chloe's hand, and spun her around. Ignoring the fact that her footwork was ten times worse than Trixie's, Chloe tried to do as Lucifer told her. Just as she felt like she was getting the hang of it, Trixie put on a song. Chloe recognized it from the very first beat. Now they were both dancing around to Shake It Off by Taylor Swift.

Chloe forgot to listen to Lucifer's commands. With her hands on his shoulders, she started swinging around wildly, probably looking immensely ridiculous. But Lucifer took her hands and joined in. Soon all three were dancing around, Lucifer spinning Chloe around and jumping up and down. By the time the song was over, they were all laughing so hard it hurt. The next song started playing, and none of them could help but keep dancing. Song after song they danced. Through some they were dancing, through others they were just lying breathlessly on the floor.
It was only when she got up and to the kitchen to get some water Chloe glanced at the time for the first time. Her jaw dropped. It was almost midnight, and Trixie was going to school the next day, as well as she herself was getting up early to go to work.

When Trixie was gone to bed, Chloe sent Lucifer to say goodnight to her. Lucifer had never really been the good-night-hug-and-kiss-type, but he suspected that Chloe had sent him mostly to change that. So he hugged the little urchin good night, and he was on his way out when she spoke.
"You make her really happy, you know."

He turned by the door and looked back at her.
"I know she is trying to hide it, but mum has been through a lot. You always make her so happy."

Lucifer smiled. "And so do you, little urchin." He said, closing the door behind him.
