A Nightingale's Love

Beneath the crowning moon
Out of muteness, through the night's mist,
A song echoed ever so sweetly, softly among the rustling leaves
From a gentle heart singing, an ethereal music

"My queen of white roses, of impeccable grace and beauty
Though thorns press against your heart-
The price of love that birthed your pain and tears,
Fear not for I am here,

For if I have to live a thousand lives all over again
In every way, they would only be with you,
Yet, I only have a mortal life and so this I ask of you,
That spotless heart of yours in exchange for mine,
I will live and love for you, all throughout my feathered life."

However, night after night his song of love grew fainter
As her thorns pierced deeper into his fragile breast,
And so, one fateful day beneath the waning moon,
He heartily sang out the lyrics of his final tune:

"If ever you find that your passionate, faultless love is for me
As your blooming roses of (now so) red with flushes of white,
Then please look for me, for I'll be waiting,
Here in our paradise."
