Lost Paradise

Deafening silence
Surrounds this solitary place
The gentle breeze
Enwraps me in a cold embrace.
The falling of leaves seems to take eternity,
The howling of wind
Subconsciously disrupts me.

Withered foliage scattered everywhere
Rolling, tumbling, just about nowhere.
Gray clouds, gloomy skies
Share my epiphany,
All is clear in my eyes
The black and white scenery.

And here comes the pouring rain
Unlike long, long ago,
Now she’s crying heartily, mournfully
Drowning me in her sorrow, and so..

Here I am standing, numb and drenched
Where everything seems lifeless,
Until I saw him and then
As if it is as it was before,
A feeling of familiarity washed over me
And I felt the coldness of the rainfall.

He felt my eyes on him, so he glanced
A worried look etched on his face,
So with a few strides he went to me
And wrapped me in a tight embrace.

His presence and the warmth of his touch
Are enough to bring me back to reality,
Merging the present and the past,
This place with all our memories..

But..

When I really looked at him
My heart was torn apart,
For I saw someone else in his eyes,
A stranger with a new heart.

Painfully, I turned away from him
‘Coz words appeared meaningless,
He came; he did what he’s supposed to do
Some things are better left unsaid.

So here I am again, alone, drenched
Totally numb yet shivering inside,
Standing between nowhere and home
Here in our lost paradise.
