I awake to the light shining through the blinds. I squint at the alarm clock sitting on my dresser, all the way across the room. It's only 6:00. I reluctantly slide out of bed.

This life, the normal one, is boring. There's no action, no adrenaline pumping situations, no time threatening actions to be made. But my ordinary life ends once I lay down for bed and flip the switch. That's when I awake in a different realm. A different universe. But for now, I have to get through my normal day before I am able to do that again.

I slip into the shower, quickly washing up. I brush through my wet hair, blow dry it and then pull on some black skinny jeans and a grey long sleeve crop top. I grab my bag and go to class. I'm a college student, just taking classes to take them. I don't know what I want to be in this world. Like I said before, this world is boring.

Though going to class is a waste of time, my parents want me to for their reputation. My mom is a professor at the college I go to, my father is the dean. They said that if I didn't go to college, I would have to move out and find something for myself in the world, well at least that's what my mother said. It's a little harsh, but I guess I understand the standpoint. I walk into my first class, Modern English, which is the class that my mother teaches. I take a seat in the front row. I know everybody in the class thinks that I'm automatically passing since she's my mom, but truthfully, my mom is harder on me. If I write an amazing essay with no flaws, she will literally find something every time, telling me that I need to do better. She's a great mother, but sometimes when she makes me redo a whole essay for no reason, it makes me feel like she's just doing it on purpose so people won't think she's just giving me an automatic A+.

Soon the class begins to fill up with other college students and my mother walks in.

"Good morning class," she announces. "Now open your book to last nights reading." Everybody shuffles to their books and as they do so my mother walks over to me and sits next to me.

"I need to talk to you after class."

"Why?" I question.

"I have news to share with you," she whispers then gets back up in front of her students. "Now let's begin by re-reading the first paragraph. Someone start us off."

She finishes her lesson and the bell rings, dismissing everyone. A few students go up to her, probably discussing how they can increases their grade, blah blah blah. I call them ass kissers. I stay still in my seat, reading a few chapters ahead of the book my mother assigned. I wait patiently until everyone is gone then I put my things away. She stands in front of me.

"You aren't doing so good in calculus, why?" She crosses her arms. She's disappointed for sure, but what do I say? Do I tell her that I hate math, or I just was having a bad day?

"I know. I'm sorry mom, I was having a bad day."

"You were having a bad day? You failed your exam! That's almost seventy percent of your grade!"

"What else do you want me to say?" I stand up. "I was having a bad day that day, you don't even question why and then just go on about how I'm failing the class! I know I'm failing! What do you want me to do!?" I sigh as I sling my bag over my shoulder.

"Where are you going?! I'm done with you yet!" She yells.

"I'm going home." And I walk out the door. Yeah, I did fail the exam in her eyes. I actually got a 68% on the exam, which is a C-, but I still have time to makeup for it by getting A's on tests, quizzes, and homework. My mother thinks that if I don't have an A or an A+ that I'm failing. Like I said before, she pushes me so hard for no reason.

I arrive back at home and walk through the front door. I have the strange feeling that something is off. It's only ten in the morning, so I would still be asleep in my other realm. I walk into the kitchen, snatching a bagel and an apple as I walk past the counter and skip up the stairs. Once I reach my room, I close the door, lock it, and throw my stuff on the ground.
