SCENE 1
[Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, Football Field || November 15, 2014, 11:05 am, ‘Boo-Bear’]
(Cloudy morning, soft sunlight occasionally peeks from behind. Football field in Holmes Chapel. HARRY and LOUIS are playing football with three other kids, shouting, laughing, kicking non-stop as they team up to make their goals.)
AUSTIN: “No fair! Uncle Lou is a football expert!”
MATTY: “That’s why we’re playing with him! So we can be as good as our idol!”
JACK: “He joined the Doncaster Rovers! Of course, we’re no match to him!”
LOUIS: (head kicking) “Well, I was part of that, but had a great time with them, at least.” (catches the ball, kneels) “You have a lot to learn, boys. That’s why we have to keep playin’!”
AUSTIN: “Teach us your ways, master.”
LOUIS: “Hmm, I have nothing much to say. I just enjoy playing this stuff and you just have to stay focused. Train hard. Be active at school. Be healthy, play as a team, always do your best. Have fun, that’s what matters.”
MATTY: “It’s so cool that we’re playing with famous guys in One Direction! It’s like when we talk about you in school, the girls in our class will hate on us because we won’t give your number to them. It’s so funny!”
HARRY: “And that’s one thing that you shouldn’t do. Don’t want our game to be disturbed by those girls, right?”
(All three boys shake their heads)
LOUIS: “Good. These little lads do have a touch of Cheshire in them.”
HARRY: “What’s that supposed to mean?”
LOUIS: “They’re good boys. Like you.” (smiles, HARRY scoffs and shakes his head) “Alright, gentlemen! Who wants to have another round?”
(All five of them play for another round. LOUIS takes charge of giving his professional kicks, HARRY tells the boys to watch closely. Goals were done, the ball being passed around incessantly, more laughter arise, until they see someone coming.)
LOUIS: “Alright boys, looks like Principal Styles is here.”
GEMMA: (makes face) “Very funny.” (calls out) “Jack, Matty, Austin, we have to go! Time to go home.”
MATTY: (groans) “But we just started, Gem.”
GEMMA: “Yeah, an hour ago. Your mum’s waiting for you, come on.”
MATTY: (sad) “Hmm … okay.” (turns around, offers his hand for a shake) “It’s our pleasure to play with you again, Uncle Lou. Hope we can play again when you’re not busy anymore.”
LOUIS: (shakes his hand) “Pleasure’s all mine, young man. See you next time.”
(LOUIS and HARRY high fived with the boys and said goodbye. GEMMA leads the boys for a while, then walks towards the two of them.)
