Her first Lesson went well. She found that mostly girls with huge crushes or 'the sight' took Divination as a subject. The short Ravenclaw tasked with giving Estelle her notes was both. Sybil Trewlany, a love stricken, sight gifted oddly beautiful Ravenclaw, had phenomenal handwriting and a king attitude towards the new girl. They hit it off immediately. She was walked to her next Lesson all the way in the Dungeons by the frizzy haired Ravenclaw.
Potions was slightly worse. Slughorn took a liking to Estelle and thought he was doing her a favour when he sat her at the front of the classroom. Potions had been a subject Estelle was gifted in, she didn't enjoy it so much as her only experience from school was making Newt level potions to 'prepare her for the future' like healing potions and sleeping draught. Her aim was to pretend she didn't exist but she was called to stay behind with none other than Regulus Arcturus Black who she didn't even notice was in the class and another slytherin student she didn't care to know the name of.
"I have noticed today that you are more academically inclined in this subject than the others and i hold a club for my 5th year classes I would like you to be a part of and so you will be joining the 5th years for their owls level lessons," Professor Slughorn voiced demandingly like the students didn't have a choice in the matter. Estelle couldn't so much but mutter a thanks to the teacher and stalk out of the classroom to her next period.
She was noted in defence against the dark arts that astronomy students had lessons at 8 pm in the autumn and winter when the sun had set and the stars were out. This coincidentally moved her last period class as a free period that fell at the same time as none other than 5th year potions. When she realised a disappointed sigh left the throat of the short girl and she swelled upon this until the lesson itself.
She got to her lesson early. Slughorn was waiting.
"Hello miss Potter, please take a seat at the back, it is the only uninhabited bench," Estelle smiled and took her seat. She didn't like Slughorn, she decided, He was pushy and tried to disguise it as being kind. She also noticed he would take any opportunity to gloat about things he had or seen.
It had completely slipped her mind that Her brother was in this class as well as the others of his friends and their Slytherin enemies. Regulus got to sit with them. She was stuck in the back room next to the other boy; Leo she had learned was unfortunately a half-blood Slytherin and had been reminded of it constantly. Her and Leo chatted minimally throughout the lesson that was too much like a lecture to be any fun for Estelle.
About 20 minutes into the hour lesson Estelle found herself doodling nonsense onto a piece of paper rather than listening to what the old teacher in front of her was saying.
"So miss Potter what is the key ingredient in a vile of living death," Slughorn spoke, everyone snapping their necks to the back of the class room where the small girl was snapped out of her doodling with a reddened face.
"Um If I remember correctly from Beauxbatons 2nd year learning it's powdered root of Asphodel," Estelle worded cockily pulling herself out of her embarrassed stage by reminding herself that Slughorn had done that on purpose to embarrass her. Men had never scared Estelle, what more could they do to minorities to install fear. And Beauxbatons school of girls had taught her that a woman is much more scary than a man when angry.
"Oh um yes that is correct Miss Potter um well i'll carry on then," Slughorn stumbled as everyone's eyes pulled themselves from her and on to the teacher. One lingering eye was that of her brother and Lily Evans winking and smiling and then turning to the front once again.
After that period Estelle had a few hours to relax before astronomy. She spent it being pestered by a certain group of 5th years in her house.
"Holy shit Estelle, you stuck it out for yourself to a teacher... and it was beautiful," Sirius exclaimed, throwing himself on the sofa next to her.
"Um alright snuffles please calm down on the calling my sister beautiful," James said squishing his body between Sirius' and Estelle's making her squirm. Remus observed from the cozy armchair and behind the most beautiful copy of Northanger Abbey Essie had ever seen.
"OH MY GOD, REMUS THAT IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL COPY OF NORTHANGER ABBEY I'VE EVER SEEN... jane austen I didn't peg you for a classic romance reader," She gushed eyeing his leather bound book.
"Thank you, my parents got it for me, for christmas yeh i've been waiting to get my hands on a copy of mansfield park too," He smiled dreamily thinking about the book. The others looked in confusion as Estelle jumped of the sofa and sprinted to her dorm collecting her own Leather bound version of Mansfield Park she had finished that morning. When she returned the boys were awaiting her arrival as she hid the book behind her back and presented it to the scar-faced boy.
"You are an absolute fucking angel Estelle Potter, what did they inject into you in that creepy french school to connect you with the heavens," Remus eyed the book.
Looks of pure confuzzlement appeared on the other boys faces as they eyed the two prancing and embracing teenagers.
"Omg this is so cute," Marlene stated, sitting herself next to Sirius in the spot Estelle had previously been now that Elle was sat next to Remus on the armchair showing him details of her copy of the book.
"This is not cute this is weird mate that's my SISTER you're calling a heavenly angel! "
"James shut the fuck up,"
"I- um okay,"
When the two had stopped gushing over the works of Jane Austen and organised a wednesday book club with them two and a certain redhead, Estelle announced she had to make her way to astronomy on the tower.
"Why would you pick astronomy when you waste your evenings to do it," James questioned as she was leaving her common room.
"Because Jamsie some of us don't need to cause mischief at ungodly hours to entertain ourselves because our love for a beautiful redhead will never be returned," She smiled to herself.
The walk from the red common room to the astronomy tower wasn't too long. What she didn't expect to be met with was an almost entire class of slytherins. Astronomy is an odd subject there is so much to it that there is only one class for every year in the school and so so from 3rd years up to 7th years they are all in class at the same time just split up into different things. Still even out of all the pupils there Estelle could count the members of houses other than Sltherins on one hand, there were 4.
Xenophillius Lovegood (Ravenclaw)
Amos Diggory (hufflepuff)
Krisha Patil (hufflepuff)
Estelle Potter (Grythindoor)
Astronomy quickly became a favorite lesson of Estelle's as expected.
