a rainy day

Every opening of the eye is a reminder
to relearn happiness -
to remember and recall that happiness
until the next day

when goodbyes are said
and the storm rains on only one;
the clouds are morbidly lined
and the downpour is bleak.

No towel for comfort
just you and the storm.
A constant rerun of hurricane bitch
every time you close your eyes.

Stranded, standing in a solitary lake
grey water shines black
seeps through you and drowns
your hollowness
until the next day.
