Thank you all for being so patient with this story. It's been kinda everywhere lately. I hope you enjoy this chap and that you have a great start to May! <3
Mon-el POV
I was terrified, I still am but if I wanna make it out with my head still attached to my body I have to stay calm. Slow, deep breaths I tell myself. I moved my wrists a bit to try and figure out how tight the tape is. I have extra room, which means whatever idiot taped me down is the one who helped me escape. I have 10 minutes till I get checked on again, so I have to work fast.
I shut my eyes and think. The chair is bolted to the ground so I can't up and smash it which means I have to get my hands free. Knowing the pain that is coming I take a deep breath, bracing myself, I start to turn my hands, slowly in both directions.
The rough and sticky surface tries to stick to my skin as I move my hand. The sensation burns my skin, making me wanna scream. I keep pushing through the pain until I pull it far enough that my hand is free. I quietly free the other burning hand and pull down the blindfold.
The first thing I noticed was my arm, it was swollen and black, like someone had ripped it open and placed something inside. It hurt like hell to touch it but I could still move my arm and that's what mattered. Whatever was in that tranquillizer obviously didn't agree with my body.
There was blood oozing out of the side of my head, though I have no recollection of how or when it happened. My head was heavy and hurt but I fought through the pain.
I was in a very small room, stained concrete walls surrounded me. The floors were wood, and they were damp. Explains the smell. I bent down and undid the tape around my ankles, careful to make little sound. Once free I stood, I wobbled a bit and had to hold onto the chair for balance.
I walked slowly, soundlessly over to the door. I peaked out the key hole. I didn't see much but I could hear people, assuming guards, breathing on the other side of the door. So there isn't much hope escaping through the front... I stand straight and look around. I only have about 5 minutes before Tyler comes to check up on me. I almost want to stay, to confront him, but the moment someone knows I'm awake makes escaping that much harder.
I scan the room, the walls are pretty much barren but... I look up to see a big vent above me. I smirk, this this is how I will escape. I knew I wouldn't be able to crawl up through the vent in a span of about 3 and a half to four minutes so I sat myself back down and re-taped my ankles to the chair and slid my hands through the duck tape that was still stuck to the piece of furniture.
Within 2 minutes of me sitting down the big door clicked and someone walked in. They circled me, thinking I was still knocked out. "Update me immediately if you hear anything, understand?" Tyler said to one of the guards.
"Understood sir." Then it was all silent again. I removed my hands from the tape and again, undid my ankles. I had to make sure I was extremely quiet. There was a fan going and the sound of rushing water coming from somewhere so I new that small sounds wouldn't make a big difference but I still wanted to be careful.
The chair was bolted to the ground so I could stand on it without fearing it tipping. Once on top of it I grabbed hold of the vent. It was rusty and hadn't seemed to have been medaled with in years. I searched my pockets for something I could use to unscrew the bolts.
Sadly, they were empty. My phone was gone, my wallet and anything else that may have been there. But, unluckily for them, I still have my boots on. I sat down and brought my left foot up to rest on my knee. I pushed my finger into the middle part of the shoe and the little compartment opened.
