Book 1 Part 34
And the Winner is~

I awoke the next morning at a reasonable time. Today it was Korra who was awake first. It was like we had switched places. She was at the desk but was looking over the stuff from inside the box. I walked over and leaned my elbows on the back of the chair, hanging over her on one side.
"Morning.. Whathcya lookin at?"
She let out a small hmm before holding up the scroll that had airbending stuff on it. "This reminds me of a scroll Katara had shown me when I was younger, but for airbending. Maybe this could help... I still haven't been able to airbend at all." She sounded so frustrated. I nodded as I leaned over, my head nearly upside down as I looked her in the eyes.
"You'll get it, don't worry. And honestly.. I think this belongs to Tenzin, he could probably use it to help you." It was funny looking at her from this angle, I'm always looking up at her, this time she looked up at me with a smile.
"Thanks~, how'd you sleep?" She tilted her head and sent me a smile.
"Surprisingly well.. How'd you sleep, you have the championships tonight~" I stood straight up as I sat on the bed next to the chair, she turned to face me.
"Great, and I'm ready!" She cheered . I laughed and smiled at her before she jumped out of the chair, scroll in hand. "Well, Breakfast time princess." She patted my knee before heading to the door..
"Put real clothes on first!" I laughed heading to the dresser and pulled out what I needed. She looked down at herself, noticing her own tank top and pajama pants before blushing and putting a hand behind her head...
"Right~.. I'll be right back!" She ran next door and I hurried to lock mine.. Miss Avatar who doesn't know how to wait for an answer to open the door. I laughed as I got ready for the day, I was half down when a knock.. Followed by a whine came from the door..
"Hold on a second.~" I laughed as I finished getting ready. One perk about shorter hair.. Minimal work. I just used the small scarf thing Nan had given me with the pins as a small head bandana and that was it. I went to unlock the door and Korra was standing there, leaning against the wall between our doors.
"You ready? Oh. Cute!" she pointed to my hair and I shook my head.
"Thanks. And yeah~ let's go get breakfast."
"Yeah!" She punched the air with the hand that was holding the scroll and grabbed my hand with the other. I looked down at it for a second and she went to pull away. "Oh um.. Sorry I."
"You're fine.. Just unexpected?" I shrugged, keeping our fingers together. She smiled and was practically pulling me to the dining hall. "I might take that back if you pull my arm off~!" I laughed and she rolled her eyes as we walked at a slightly slower pace.
The only seeming downside to living in the dorms is that the dining hall was a little farer, and it was cold. But at least my hand wasn't. This was nice. This felt right. I didn't want to admit how badly I wanted this to become our official normal. I was too scared of what could happen.
I shook it away. Right now, I wanted to focus on right now. No thinking of terrifying what if's or horrible nightmares. I wanted to focus on our laughter and the way it felt to just walk side by side with her when our hands were linked.
