Kline's Beautiful Downfall

Chapter 9

"Based on the tests, there's nothing to worry about." Dr. Thomas explained to Kline.

Dr. Thomas is his mother's best friend. Kababata ito ng Mama niya at kaklase simula grade school at nagkahiwalay lamang nang mag-aral ito ng medicine sa Germany.

"You are a healthy young man. Everything is normal hijo." Dagdag pa nito habang tinitignan ang results ng mga medical examinations niya. Nakahinga siya ng maluwag.

"Thanks doc." Sabi niya na napasandal pa sa couch sa loob ng private office ng doctor. "B-But, what seems to be the reason bakit kaya ako nagpa-palpitate?" Takang tanong niya.

"It actually depends on the triggers." Sagot nito. "Stress, anxiety, fatigue for instance." Sagot ng doktor.

"Hmmm..." He mumbled and leaned forward.

"Have you been stressed lately?" Tanong nito. He was looking at him as if scrutinizing and analyzing his actions. "If not, try to recall the situation, tuwing kailan ka ba nagpapalpitate?"

Kline leaned back, arms crossed. Seriously thinking about the times he felt his heart beating really hard. Then he suddenly smiled. He tried to hide it, pero nahuli siya ng doktor.

"Why? Something in mind? Have you figure out the culprit. What is it?" Sunod sunod na tanong nito.

"Damn! There's this one person na kapag nakikita ko nagpapalpitate ako."

"Oh. Why? Are you somehow terrified or anxious about facing this person every time?" Curious na tanong ng doktor.

"No. No. Not at all. I'm actually looking forward to seeing her, everyday. It's weird."

"Her? You mean, a woman?"

Napatingin siya dito.

"Y-Yeah." Sabi niya habang tumatango. He saw Dr. Thomas' eyes narrowed.

"A beautiful woman I guess." Tatango-tangong sabi ng doktor.

"Very beautif...

Napahinto siya sa sinasabi ng makitang nangingiti at napapa-iling ang doktor.

"W-Why are you smiling like that huh?" Tanong niya. His face was turning red.

"No I'm not." Tanggi nito. "Okay, how do you feel whenever you see this person?" Seryoso na uli na tanong ng doctor.

Naningkit ang mga mata niya.

"Don't you dare laugh at me Dr. Thomas, or I'll call my mom." Sabi niya

"I wont. Promise." Sagot nito. "So, how do you feel whenever you see her?"

He knew he could trust Dr. Thomas. Bata palang sila ng mga kapatid niya ay ito na ang doctor nila.

So he spilled the beans.

"It's kinda weird 'cuz, normally, I would feel nervous around her. But recently, it became worst. Like, I'm extremely nervous and then I will freeze. My heart beats insanely fast that it's not considered beating anymore, you know what I mean? Like I'm going to explode. And then, I will be like, chocking on my own heart, like it's tryna come out of my esophagus, and I will be like trying to swallow it back. It's crazy! It feels like all my blood rushes to my head. Then my mind will go blank. You know? I was like, damnit! My mind's gone. And I will be like, saying stupid mindless stuff, and act like a stupid robot, tryna do something to act cool and not appear like a weird ass dumb guy but ended up actually looking so stupid. And she would look at me and I'll be like, feeling so happy and won't stop smiling like a total idiot. Like fuck! I wanna run down the street and scream..."
