To the one who gave birth to me
and loved me from the day I was born,
you brought me into this life in the morning
while waiting hours in the hospital ward,
from dusk till dawn

Just so you can see me come to life
as I was created from Allah's design
and when you looked into my eyes
a feeling of delicacy and care, with the
bottom of your heart feeling warmth inside

She would make sure if I was okay
and gets worried when I'm not home and if she didn't hear from me her heart will tore,
not being able to sleep when I was gone
as she didn't know if I was safe and secure

She took care of me when I was ill,
alongside me while being most sweet, even
if she said say paracetamol was the cure,
Allah you blessed her with kindness and let
me repay her as Heaven is beneath her feet

Listen to me my Rabb, please reward
my mother for all that she has battled
and that's a dua I will keep for sure,
she would always make sure I've ate,
that itself is a love that cannot be ignored

You haven't heard the words "I love you"
because of the culture we are from but
I do, that's from my heart and more
I'm sorry for not helping as you became sore
as I was one thinking about myself

To my dad, I'm aware we never really talk,
you deserve a lot more than I have given you
as you looked after me when I was unable,
said harsh words when I should be grateful,
I'm aware that what I said was painful

You don't show your emotions
but I know inside of you they are strong,
I've done things before which were wrong
and I hope I'm in your daily prayers
as Jannah is where we all belong

I have learnt a lot from the time I've lived
to understand that there's more
to this world than there currently is,
I'll listen to Allah's words as what He says
is nothing but the best of all gifts

A poem based on (Quran 17:24)

‎وَاخْفِضْ لَهُمَا جَنَاحَ الذُّلِّ مِنَ الرَّحْمَةِ وَقُل رَّبِّ ارْحَمْهُمَا كَمَا رَبَّيَانِي صَغِيرًا

And make yourself submissively gentle to them with compassion, and say: O my Lord! have compassion on them, as they brought me up (when I was) little
