The cab pulls up to the building. Paying for the taxi, you turn to look for door number 23. Finding it you feel slightly nervous.

"Was it silly of me to come here, maybe I shouldn't have come" you say quietly to yourself

Knocking on the door it opens after a couple of seconds.

You see Spencer standing in the doorway in a sweater and sweatpants smiling as he opens the door and sees you standing there.

"I think I'm a little underdressed" he says laughing as he looks at your dress

"Hi Spence, sorry I just came from Rossi's party and wanted to stop by to see if you were okay. I went to that place you mentioned, that bakery... Kneaded, I picked up some donuts for you if you would like them. If not I understand, just wanted to come by and check on you" You say rambling

"Spence? Only JJ calls me that" he laughs

"Oh, I'm sorry Spencer, I didn't know." You say awkwardly

"I didn't say it was a bad thing, I don't care what you call me" he giggles and opens the door a bit more for you to come in.

You hand him the box of donuts and he opens them.

"Oh you make good choices" he said smiling looking into your eyes

"Everything looked so good, it was hard to choose"

You eye the opened bottle of wine sitting on the counter

"Drinking alone I see... need some company" you pick up the bottle

He laughs "Yeah that sounds nice" He pours out a glass for you then a glass for himself

"Now don't judge me, I was just starting to watch Beauty And The Beast, if you would like to join" He says shyly

"Judge you? What never, I love that movie, well I love anything Disney"

"Hey, thanks for coming over, I've had a hard time today and it's nice to have you here" He says rubbing the stem of his wine glass.

"Of course, I'm always here for you. If you don't mind me asking, what's been going on? You don't have to tell me if you don't feel comfortable" You say in a comforting tone

"A few years ago, around this time I lost someone that was really important to me, her name was Maeve. She was murdered by a stalker that she had, I wish she would have asked me for help or accepted it when I offered. I don't think of her a lot anymore, mostly just the time around her death, she was my first love, I knew her because we spoke on the phone, but I didn't know her in person. So I guess I just feel down this weekend. I've been able to move on from that time in my life, it was a while ago, but sometimes I stop to remember her" Spencer looked down at his wine

"Oh Spence, I'm so sorry, first loves really impact our lives, Maeve sounds like she was a wonderful person." You say kindly

"Yeah, I don't want to dishonour her memory, you know, I feel like people don't really understand" Spencer says

"Well, I can't understand exactly what you're going through, but what I can say is I know the man sitting in front of me, and he is amazing. I think we have Maeve to thank for helping shape who you are today." You say touching his arm

"Thank you, that is very kind of you to say, I've never really felt supported. I guess I have grown a lot from that situation, growing doesn't mean dishonouring" He smiles

"No it doesn't it actually honours those people we loved to take a piece of them with us on this journey when we grow as people" You smile, there is silence for a few seconds, but it's not awkward, it's actually comfortable.

Spencer leans his glass over to yours

"Cheers" Spencer says with a big smile

"Cheers to those who have made us who we are" You smile as you clink wine glasses, he looks deep into your eyes, its like he can see your soul.

"Movie time?" You ask

"Darn right" he laughs as he presses play

You both sit on the couch watching the movie, laughing together and enjoying one another's company. You go to pour another glass of wine and realize you have both emptied the bottle, You turn to each other and giggle.

Spencer checks his watch

"11:20" he states as he stretches his arms

"Oh gosh I'm so sorry I didn't realize how late it was. I should get going." You say as you begin to stand up

"It's late and you've had a bit to drink, I guess I have to. I have a spare room if you want to stay here. Saves you the trouble of paying for a cab, I can drive you home tomorrow" Spencer says as he points to a spare room.

"That's very kind, but I don't want to intrude" You say shyly

"No intrusion at all, I really don't mind. I don't get guests much anyway, nobody really comes over to my place" Spencer says quietly

"That's crazy, you have a great place and an even better taste in movies" you smile patting his shoulder.

"You can come over anytime" Spencer shows you to the extra room. It's nice, the butterflies in your stomach were going crazy... maybe that was the wine... but you felt Spencer actually cared, or maybe he was like this to everyone.

"I don't have any clothes with me, I wasn't planning on staying the night you know"

"Don't worry y/n I have a sweater you can borrow" He runs to his room and grabs a sweeter and hands it to you.

"Thank you Spence," as you take the sweater your hands brush together, you feel your cheeks get warm.

"Goodnight y/n sleep well, if you need anything I'm next door"

"Goodnight to you too, and thank you, again" You say as Spencer leans down to give you a hug.

You feel his arms wrap around you, you smell the faint scent of his cologne, his hair tickles your nose, but most of all you felt safe. You exhale leaning into the hug. He gives you a quick squeeze then turns away and walks to his room.
