Chapter 28

You sat down in Hotch's office

"Of course, is everything okay, I know my performance has not been as good since I've gotten back, I'm trying to get back into the rhythm of things, especially being here more often. I promise to improve my performance" you ramble nervously

"y/n... slow down, it's not your performance, you have done an amazing job. A new position has opened up in the office for a BAU Criminal Case Psychologist, I would like to offer you the position. It focuses on office work, examining the behaviour and psychology of our unsubs, you would assist from here on our field cases to help the team. Are you interested?" Hotch asks handing you a job description

"Can you give me until tomorrow, I want to talk to Spencer. I will get back to you first thing in the morning"

"Of course, I look forward to your response"

Later that evening you are sitting at the dinner table with Spencer while he discusses a new magic trick he learned.

"Hey you're not listening" he taps the table in front of you

"Oh babe i'm sorry it sounds wonderful" you snap back to focus on Spencer

"What sounds wonderful?" He questions

"The book you're reading" you say smiling at him taking a bite of food

"I wasn't talking about a book, I was talking about a magic trick i learned" He sassily remarks

"What's going on?" he grabs your hand

"Hotch offered me a job today" You grab the job description out of your bag and pass it over to him, he quickly glances over it.

"y/n what are you worried about this position is made for you... take it"

"I know i want it, but i think i will miss field work, and I guess i'm afraid it will change us, you still out in the field while i'm back here at home. Things will be different"
"Different doesn't mean bad" he reassures

"I know, but right now we live together and work in the field together, taking this position means the time that we have with each other will be structured differently" You sigh. You can see Spencer thinking.

"I know, but we always make things work, this will not be any different, take the job y/n"

"I can't pass it up, it's what I truly want... Thank you for supporting me"

The next morning you head straight for Hotch's office

"Morning, have you thought over the position y/n?"
"I have, I'm going to accept"

"I thought you would, you're going to fit this position perfectly. Let's start the paperwork"

A few months have passed and you are loving the transition. The team got called out two days ago to fly to Los Angeles and find an unsub who was believed to be a vigilante.

"y/n you're still here" Penelope says walking out of her room

"Yeah Spence just called with a few questions about the case and knew I could help"

"How is it working, with him away and you back here?" She sits down in the empty chair next to you

"It's good, I miss him, but we make it work. I wish they were not away so much but, I knew that when i started"

"I know, but you can still miss him" Penelope reassures you with a hug

You spend a little while chatting with your best friend about life and her new possible date that she has tomorrow.

"Goodnight" you both say walking to your cars

Arriving home it's quiet with Spencer gone, you send him a goodnight text and crawl into bed.

You awake quickly to arms wrapping around you

"Spence, my gosh, you could have called" you say putting a hand to your chest in a fright

"Sorry, I wanted to surprise you" He laughs

"I'm glad your home"

Spencer gets into bed next to you

"I missed you y/n" he says kissing your neck, your breathing becomes heavy

"I missed you too... Dr." you say turning over to face him. He examines your face and runs his hands through your hair pulling you close.
