You both look at each other with wide eyes, then look over at Jack and laugh

"You're silly Jack, lets go get some ice cream then head home" You stand up

"Well my dad is in love, and he looks at Beth the same way Spencer looks at you," Jack says skipping away.

"Kids really just say what's on their mind, don't they?" You laugh looking back at Spencer's bright red face.

Spencer giggles nervously and smiles, putting his hand to the back of his neck nodding.

"See you at work tomorrow Spence." You say waving as you walk towards Jack

"Yeah, see you tomorrow y/n" Spencer waves back.

You spend the next few hours with Jack getting ice cream, and having a talent show in front of Jack's stuffed animals.

Aaron walks through the front door, just as you and Jack begin to sing to the stuffed animal audience.

"Oh how fun, don't stop on my account," Hotch says putting his hands up

"Daddy daddy, we went to the park and got ice cream, and played games. Oh and aunty y/n is in love with Spencer" Jack says as he runs to give his dad a hug

"Hi Aaron, we had a great day" you say

"It sounds like it... In love? Where is this coming from" Hotch smirks and raises an eyebrow

"Oh we ran into Spencer at the park," you laugh.

"Well thank you again for taking care of him y/n. I will see you tomorrow at work,"

Driving home you begin to talk out loud to yourself

In love? I'm not in love, maybe in like, Spence is cute. But i don't LOVE him. But does he like me? He did seem a little embarrassed when Jack said he did. Maybe I am reading too much into this. Stop profiling Spencer.

Just then you arrive home and pull into the driveway. Checking the time, 5:45pm.

You head inside and spend the rest of the day relaxing in front of the TV snacking.

Your phone buzzes, its Spencer

Hey y/n nice seeing you, hope you had a good rest of your day. Jack is pretty funny, isn't he. He has a good imagination.

You respond

Hey Spence, nice seeing you too. We had a lot of fun, thanks. Yeah, he's a great kid, certainly very smart and a very active imagination. I hope you're having a good evening.

I just wanted to say hey, and check-in. See you tomorrow

Spencer replies back quickly

Thank you for checking in. See you tomorrow!

"It was kind of him to check up on you, he is so thoughtful. Overall Spencer is pretty perfect," you say to yourself.

Around 10:45 you decide it's best to go to bed, you have to be in the office around 8:30 tomorrow. You crawl into bed, and it's not too long until you fall asleep.

You awake quickly to the sound of your alarm going off. You strain your eyes as you look at your bright phone screen lighting up the room. Stretching, you get up and get ready for the day. Hopefully, it will be office work for the next few weeks, so you decide to wear a pair of comfortable, yet professional pants and a nice black shirt and deep red blazer.

Arriving at the office you are greeted by Penelope

"Hey pretty girl" she shouts running up to you to give you a hug

"Hey sweets" you hug her back

You look around the room to see who is in the office, you notice Emily and JJ grabbing a coffee. Spencer is sitting at his desk, you catch his eye, and you look away quickly, hoping he did not think you were staring at him.

"Morning everyone," Hotch says as if briskly walking into the office.

"No cases, hopefully for a while, it's nice when killers take a break, so just mostly paperwork for the next little bit." He says, stopping to talk to everyone in the room.

Heading over to your desk to grab the files and begin sorting through them.

"Y/n can I see you in my office" Hotch calls peeking out from behind his door.

"Uh oh, someones getting a talking to" Morgan jokes

"For what, being amazing" you flick your hair and wink and Derek as you walk to Hotch's office.

"Y/n come in, close the door if you would like and take a seat" Hotch points to the chair in front of his desk

"Is everything okay?" You ask with a touch of concern

"Things are great, you have been here for a bit and I wanted to get your feedback, how are things going for you?" he leans on his desk

"Things? Yeah, they're going very well, i feel like i fit in with everyone, I'm learning quickly. It's a great environment" you speak confidently

"Good to hear, you are doing an excellent job, continue to stay focused and keep it up. Thanks for coming in" He smiles

"That's it?" You ask

"That's all, you can head back to your desk" Hotch waves goodbye

You walk out of the office and back to your desk

"Hey Dr. y/l/n, I need to discuss this case with you," Spencer says from the conference room

"Private meeting with pretty boy, huh?" Derek laughs

"Funny, really witty" you speak sarcastically

You walk over to the conference room and see Spencer sitting inside with a couple of open case files

"Do we have a new case already" you frown

"No luckily, It's an old case, they caught the guy, but I need your brain I want to add some insight into the case" he examines the papers in front of him

"My brain? okay genius, how can I help" you sit down beside him.

"So I need the psychology of this case, A man went into his office and shot his boss, lucky the local police did catch the guy, his name was Harold Snow, very little education working a paper-pushing job. His co-workers would often say he would talk a lot about nothing, but act like he knew what he was talking about" Spencer explained

"Sounds like Dunning-Kruger effect" you roll your eyes

"That's what I thought too, but why? Why would he just shoot his boss?" Spencer continues

"Well with dunning-Kruger, these people view themselves as highly superior, thinking they know more than those around them, when they don't. Developing a god-like complex, maybe he viewed his boss as an obstacle in his way of achieving the superiority" You stated

"There's that wonderful mind, perfect, I will include this in my case, thanks y/n for your help" He smiles and goes back to writing

"Spence, you are a literal genius, why did you call me in here? You didn't need my help" You say confused

"Just because I know things doesn't mean I can't ask for help from other people?" He questions

"Of course not. I am glad you asked me. I'm happy to help you, but Spence, come on, you knew this case already. What's going on?"
