Why was I here? Any explanation I could make was turned down by my subconscious as both irrational and incorrect in abiding with the ways of nature and reality. The only thing I could grasp or cling onto that could explain this predicament was something related to isekai. I knew this because of Professor, a nickname given to a classmate of mine who loved everything belonging to anime and manga, and his otaku self rubbing off on me after the midterm exams.
It was a form of fiction that had to do with the manifestation of individuals in different worlds from the one they were born on. These new worlds could have magic, knights, space warfare and other things of that sort. I wasn't an expert in this field of Japanese culture in the least, but I am able to affirm that this must be at least somewhat of an explanation to the predicament I am in.
However, I knew staying put was not an option. Looking at a newspaper, the writing on there was completely foreign to me, despite the countless languages I was able to speak and write in. I should explore my surroundings and establish goals in order to ensure my survival here.
I folded the newspaper and put it in my right pocket as I took out my phone and checked to see if its camera and other functions still worked, which they did. I saw the light of day as I witnessed a sight that I knew a person like Professor would drool over: animal-human hybrids walking the streets with regular humans, carriages being driven by what appears to be large dragon-like creatures and multiple vendors interacting with daily citizens from what it looks like. What an interesting and peaceful world. At least, that was what appeared to be on the surface. From my time in the whiteroom, I know that basing something merely on its appearance was foolish.

As I looked at a couple who was paying for some apples along the side of the road near an apple vendor, I saw the different colored coins they gave, which meant the currency was different than from yen. I decided my first priority would be to learn the geography and location of my surroundings as well as some basic information a normal citizen should know.
I walked around, receiving stares due to my school attire. I was strolling through this district when I spotted a demihuman vendor selling clothes at the back side of the dirt road. I approached him. After eavesdropping on other conversations, it appears we either spoke the same language or my speech was being translated to their foreign language. Whatever it was, I seemed to adjust.
Me: Good morning, sir.
Vendor: Well, hello! What brings you here, sir? Would you like a look at the attire I sell?
Me: Yes, but I have some questions in regards to my surroundings. You see, I am a foreigner, as you can tell from the clothes I have on.
Vendor: I see! Well I am always keen on helping travelers on their feet!
Me: I thank you, sir. I seem to have memory loss as I know little to nothing about this city or it's importance. I could make it worth your while.
