Y/N- I'm out on a run, what's wrong?
Wanda- Our mission went wrong and Nat got hurt, Bruce isn't here. We can't take her to a hospital so we need your help
I didn't know what to do, I obviously wanted to help but I knew if I got dragged back into this then it would so much harder to leave this time
Y/N- okay, where do you need me?
Wanda- Avengers tower as soon as you can get here
I teleported back home and grabbed my medical bag before teleporting to the Tower

Wanda- follow me, she's in the medical bay already
I ran down with Wanda and saw blood pouring from Nat's stomach.
Y/N- okay, get her into the surgical room now. Connect the monitors while I scrub in
Wanda- all the equipment is out for you, all still in the packets. Do you need my help?
Y/N- No. I need everyone to stay away while I'm operating. I don't need the extra pressure from all of your eyes.

I run into the surgical room pushing the door shut behind me.
I intubate her immediately and push the anaesthetic so she doesn't wake up. The wound is deep and from a bullet I'm assuming. It's fragmented upon impact which will only make things harder.

Wanda POV-
It's been hours since Y/N started surgery on Nat. I didn't want to bother her considering she ran away without saying goodbye but she was the only one I trusted to save Nat's life.
Steve- She's going to be alright you know, Nat is a fighter
Wanda- I know she will be, I'm just hoping I made the right decision
Steve- it was the only decision Wanda, if we didn't ask for her help then Nat would have died
Wanda- what happens if she messes up? It's my fault then
Steve- You trust Y/N?
Wanda- more than I could ever say
Steve- Then you made the right decision.

A few more hours pass, I sit nervously on the sofa while Steve paces around the room.
The rest of the Avengers have just arrived back and run into the living room.
Clint- how is she?
Wanda- we've not heard anything
Clint- I need to see her
He starts running downstairs but Steve grabs him
Steve- if you burst in there and Y/N makes a mistake, how will you feel then?
Bruce- wait, Y/N is doing the surgery?
Wanda- she's the only one who would answer and could be here in time

Y/N POV-
I finish the final stitches and bandage up the wound. I clean the surrounding area because who knew hygienic this room even was.
Natasha's pulse is steady and her blood pressure looks good, from what I could see I got all the bullet out but she's going to need close monitoring. I pull off the blood soaked scrubs I was wearing and throw back on my running gear
I head upstairs and see all the avengers looking at me
Y/N- it was a tough surgery but I think she's going to be okay. It was touch and go for a while but she's a hell of a fighter. Bruce can you head down and monitor her, I've written down all the medications she's had as well as some other data.
He walks past me and puts his hand on my shoulder
Bruce- good job kid, we owe you one
The rest of the avengers followed him down leaving me all on my own, I needed fresh air so I headed to the balcony.
Being in there was suffocating, all of their eyes on me praying Natasha was okay. All of that pressure is why I gave up surgery, I knew I was good at it but I couldn't deal with the intensity.

Wanda- Thank you Sonny, I didn't think you'd answer my call but you came through when I needed you the most
Y/N- you don't have to thank me Wanda, being a surgeon was part of my job. It's been a while though, realised why I gave it all up.
I can feel her fingers grazing against mine causing butterflies in my stomach. The feelings were still there and stronger than ever. I take her hand in mine and we just stand there
Wanda- you look tired Y/N, you were in there a long time. Maybe you should get some rest
Y/N- well my day hasn't exactly been peaceful, a 2 hour run followed by a 6 hour surgery all without having eaten or drunk anything.
Wanda- are you serious? That's not taking care of yourself?
Y/N- what was I supposed to do? Leave Natasha open on the table and grab a burger?
She giggles a little as I slump down the wall. She sits next to me and tilts my face towards her
Wanda- you know, we will never be able to thank you for what you did in there
Y/N- I didn't do it for the thanks, I did it because someone I love needed me.
