19- the council

"Come on..." I murmured under my breath. I was getting frustrated.

For two hours in a row i had been trying to open a portal. My body was definitely not used to something like this.

You did it once, you can do it again I thought to myself tho the time i did it, it was an accident.

Sweat was dripping across my forehead and the black top i was wearing was now sticking to my skin.

Using all the strength i had left, i created two speheres, combined them and then tried to make them as big as possible. If i was going to do this, i needed all the power i could muster up.

I was almost there, i could feel it when suddenly my head started spinning and so did the room around me. My knees buckled under me and this caused me to end up on the floor

"Shit..no!" I cried out as i failed once again....so close

"Thalia? What in the world are you doing?" I stiffened on the floor as i heard Peter enter the room and walk towards me.

"I uh..." I couldn't think of anything to say and i didn't want to lie to him. Lia, get a grip

"Are you okay?" He asked after seeing that i had no idea how to answer the previous question. Peter kneeled down and gave me a helping hand, pulling me up with him.

"Yeah, yeah, i'm fine" I couldn't even make eye contact with him because for some reason he was making me nervous. This feeling was odd to me, mostly because it wasn't a bad one but rather one that made my mind fuzzy and insides warm. weird. It was probably just a sign of me draining my powers

"Are you sure? What were you trying to do?" He asked and I stayed silent once again before letting out a breath and finally lifting my head up to look at him.
"I was trying to open a portal" I say watching carefully what his reaction would be

His eyes widened a bit before they started to dart around the room
"A portal? As in so you could go back to your universe?" I nodd

"Lia, that's a stupid idea" he look at me and I could see he was worried. He called you Lia...no, no, FOCUS!

"But it's the only way I can go home. Strange doesn't want to help me go back so I have to do it on my own" I don't know if I was trying to convince him or myself about this being a good idea

"We're supposed to fight them together" he almost whispered

"I don't want any of you getting hurt because of me. I'm stronger now and I can take them"

"But we are becoming a team" I finally caved

"Fine, fine. It's not like I could open the damn thing anyway" I huff

"Come on, we have a meeting to attend" He said whilst helping me walk, keeping one hand wrapped around my waist, making me feel all types of ways.

"Already?" I asked as i realized that it was only about to be seven in the morning

"Yeah, unfortunately we couldn't keep you a secret. When you went out to fight the alien with us, the council saw you"

"Oh" Was all i could say. On another note, i was so close to Peter and for the first time i got a really good look at him, and the only thing i can say is wow

How could someone be so nice and good looking? I shook the thoughts away as i came to realize that we had just arrived at the conference room

"Good morning" I greeted everyone as i took a seat

"Moornin' " Thor, who had recently returned from Asgard, said in a sing-song voice and everyone else nodded at me. I could tell everyone here was barely awake, especially Bucky, who was somewhat asleep with his head on the table.

"Let's get to the point, we don't have much time." Fury stated

"Thalia, the council now knows about you, however they don't know where you're from" Steve says

"Is that a good thing or a bad one?"

"Depends on what they plan to do with you"

"What do you mean?"

"He means if they will let you work with us or get you locked up" Sam said and my eyes widened

"What? For what? Why would they lock me up?" I panicked for a second. Great

"The council aren't the biggest fans of unknown people, especially ones with powers" Fury states

"Yeah, learned that the hard way" Wanda added, letting me know that she's been in that type of situation, hell, by the looks of it they all had been in that type of situation.

"Oh-kay...Well, what do i do? Can i leave before they decide to do whatever they will?"

"W-" Fury's words were cut off by holograms popping up of people dressed in suits. They were intimidating and i could only guess that they were the council.

I felt someone sit down next to me. I quickly glanced to my right to find that it was Peter sitting there.

"I see you have a new recruit" one of the men said

"And you didn't even think to inform us about this"

"You don't need to be informed about everything we do" Stark states. I could tell that the people he was talking to weren't big fans of him

"After Sokovia, I think it is our right to know" huh? What happened in Sokovia?
I zoned out for a bit. I had to remember to ask them about Sokovia...or I could just Google it

"She isn't a threat" Steve's voice brought me back to reality

"How can you be so sure?" A woman with dirty blonde hair asked

"Uh..you guys do know that I'm right here, right?" I motion to myself, cutting them off

"Now we do" a bald man said giving Fury a look that made me realize they didn't know I'd already be here

"We'd like to talk to you in person, Thalia" the woman said

"Yeah...not happening" Tony states

"This does not involve you"

"Actually....it does since I am her legal guardian" he states confidently. My eyes widened and face expressed shock what the hell was he saying right now

I could see that the others in the room had similar expressions
"Huh?" That was the only word I could get past my lips

"The what now?" Fury asks at the same time, also not expecting this to be the outcome...

I know I made this super short. When I said I'll be making shorter chapters, I meant it xdd

I had to rewrite this one because I hated how it was at the beginning. Also, more Peter moments coming in the next chapter:))
