a heavy atmosphere filled the room as everyone surrounded the table, their brows furrowed in concentration. for others, it was a lazy afternoon, with a cool breeze blowing and the sun shining brightly as ever, the sky painted in blue looking serene.
it was the day of their operation, and they have 200 children to save from a warehouse. they've been kept prisoner for a long time, some have gone missing, and some are kids from the streets. when he first learned about this case, jeongwoo's heart ached. he pictured the children being terrified in a place where strangers were denying them food and abusing them.
"we will enter through the main entrance and exit, and we must keep these men from escaping.
secure the children by thoroughly searching the first and second warehouses."
the officers were all ears as jeongwoo gave his orders in a stern and firm tone. he's young, and some of the officers are older than him, but they all respect the officer. jeongwoo is in charge of the operation and is the one who issues the orders. he is in the same operation as the other hyungs with whom he is friends. although the officer is young for the position, he is capable enough, and they are aware of this.
"i assume all of you already know who your unit leader is?" he asked, his eyes scanning the room as he stared at each one of them.
he's the first unit leader and officer so for the second unit, while officer kim and yoon are the unit leaders for the third and fourth unit.
in comparison to his friend junghwan, who simply winked at him and even mouthed 'yes surr,' everyone nodded in response, standing in a close and rigid manner. jeongwoo mentally rolled his eyes and sighed at how ridiculous his friend is. he's well aware that junghwan wants him to relax before the operation, he's always like that. he shook his head and laughed to himself inwardly.
"first and second unit will enter the warehouse at the front, third and fourth for the one at the back."
he knows that everyone is capable of rescuing the children, but relying solely on the first and second units will be difficult. they're up against the city's biggest criminal. 200 hostages is a significant case, and they know when to play it safe.
"the warehouse should be thoroughly searched because it is very big.
do a silent rescue if it's possible. we can't put the children's lives at risk."
he sighed, knowing it was impossible, but all he could do was hope. that big ass drug lord must have a swarm of guards patrolling the warehouse, and he's sure there are a lot of them.
he then called out, his voice firm and authoritative. "officer kim," he said. The latter took a step forward with his hands behind his back.
"do we have any more details about this case?"
"no sir, they didn't say anything other than the kids, but they said the warehouse is far from the city, it's near the borders." officer kim said, his hands clasped behind his back and his gaze fixed on him. he acknowledged his words with a nod, and the other officer returned to his seat with a nod of his own.
"it will be a long ride then? Prepare yourselves for this operation, rescue every children.
and take note that no one should be left behind." he placed his palms on the table, veins protruding from both arms as he leaned.
