Ch 8: Reuniting & going home

As the days went by, it was hard for the paw patrol as they were recovering since Ryder was worried about the pups as the pups were worried about Ryder. Speaking of recovery, the pups were getting better with their wounds as their healing along with learning how to walk again since two out of their four legs were injured but it didn't take too long for them to walk again but Rubble took a bit too long because of how all four of his legs and paws were injured. They were also getting used to eating lunch again and they immediate got used to eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner. With Ryder however, he was having a bit of a struggle recovering because of how many nightmares he got while recovering, the pain in his back while trying to sit up again, learning how to walk again, getting used to shots that'll help him recover. He wasn't eating however which was concerning the doctors and nurses who were helping him recover including Bradley. There was however a hybrid girl who volunteered as a nurse who was helpful the pups recover and her name is Tweak.

Tweak was making sure that the pups eat their food, helping them with their physical therapy, and keeping them company everytime she volunteers at the hospital. Anyways, the pups and Ryder had no idea what will happen on their 20th day at the hospital because they will soon realized that they're close to each other room wise.

As Ryder and Bradley were talking, a doctor entered the room to check on Ryder's condition along with give him a shot to help him with his pains in his muscles but then the doctor helped Ryder out of the bed and to the window. Ryder was confused but he then looked out the window to see the window across from his window had his pups looking out from it at him and Rubble was being held up by Tweak. "PUPS!!!!" Ryder exclaimed in excitement as he put his hands and face against the glass like an a child looking at a new pet in a terrainium and a shop's window. The pups all put their paws on the window as they exclaimed Ryder's name and their tails all wagged crazy. Ryder couldn't tell what they exclaimed because of how they were in different rooms. Ryder wanted to see the pups again so he quickly limped towards the door as the pups all ran out of their door. Once they all made eye contact, Ryder got on his knees and he held his arms out but before he knew it he was tackled by 5 of his pups while Tweak brought Rubble over to the group hug. Safe to say that they all started to cry because they all thought they would never see each other again until they were released from the hospital. "I-I MISSED YOU PUPS SO MUCH!!!!" Ryder exclaimed and all of the pups exclaimed "W-WE MISS YOU TOO!!!!" They all then started to cry. Just then Ryder started to cough into his elbow from crying and how's he's still struggling to breathe. Anyways, they were soon made to go back to their rooms after a few hours of crying and spending time together.

2 weeks went by and the paw patrol members were ready to leave the hospital. Bradley left in the afternoon that day so Ryder watched as his new friend left the room with his parents. Luckily Ryder and Bradley got each other's numbers while they were sharing a room. Ryder and the pups were getting discharged at 3AM IN THE MORNING THE NEXT DAY!!!!! Ryder and the pups were also going to miss the purple heart ceremony that were going to be given to everyone in Adventure Bay + the paw patrol's allies who live outside of Adventure Bay for saving the Paw Patrol from the lab. Ryder was so sad but he was able to watch it tho on the TV and he was proud of everyone who was awarded the purple heart because everyone played a special role in the save whenever it's big or small. Anyways Ryder watched the ceremony plus the afterwards part where the news reporter explained how it was a happy day in Adventure Bay but Ryder then noticed hearts forming around the news reporter and they then told everyone watching before cutting off to the studio "Before we head back to the studio, there's something we need to show everyone watching and we know that the rescued Paw Patrol members are watching this." That's when the news reporter got down to reach something and when they popped up it was a sign which had big words that says "Get Well Soon Paw Patrol!" and the sign was also covered with little messages from different people along with small drawings. Ryder couldn't help but tear up and what he didn't know what that Tweak was recording his reaction while someone else was recording the pups's reactions in their room and let's just say the pups also teared up.

Later when it was 3am the next day, Ryder and the pups were peacefully sleeping in their rooms but Ryder soon woke up to the sounds of someone knocking on his door, he then tried to sit up but he couldn't so he stayed laying down as he exclaimed "C-come in!" He then saw Mayor Goodway come into the room, went over to him, and asked "Ready to go home?" Ryder nodded so Mayor Goodway helped Ryder out of bed, gave him some clean pajamas to change into, and after he was done she helped him to the front desk where they met up with Mr. Porter who was with the pups who were also tired. Ryder just stayed behind Mayor Goodway's legs because of how tired he is. Once Ryder and his pups were signed out, they were told they had to stay at city hall until they were fully better. Ryder and the pups were ok with it and they were taken to Mr. Porter's van. On the way to City Hall Mayor Goodway looked back to the backseat since she was in the front seat, she saw Ryder and his pups all asleep and were snuggling with each other. Mayor Goodway giggled and she took a picture of the moment because of how cute it is. "They're asleep huh." Mr. Porter asked Mayor Goodway and she nodded. "They definitely need the sleep they can get so their injures can get better. Plus their just kids, they didn't deserved to be in this condition that the lab put them in. Also if Dr. Haxley comes and tries to take Ryder away then I'm not going to let him do so!" Mayor Goodway explained but Mr. Porter then asked "What about him? We haven't seen him in a long time and he may try to get Ryder back if he saw the news." "He will not and I mean NOT take Ryder with him because I know that he will probably do what Lindsay did to him in the past." Mayor Goodway explained to Mr. Porter in a whisper and Mr. Porter nodded. 

Once they got to City Hall, Mayor Goodway and Mr. Porter carried the sleeping Paw Patrol in and to the guest room where Ryder slept on the bed and the pups slept in their own pup beds since the doctors recommend Ryder not to sleep in the same bed as the pups because the pressure of multiple stuff on his chest or something on his chest that causes him pressure isn't good for his recovery. So the pups had to be in dog beds for now while Ryder is in the human bed. After Mayor Goodway tucked Ryder into bed she couldn't help but see the little three year old she knew and raised in the bed. She started to feel bad for Ryder and really concerned for him. Brittney peaked into the room and she whispered "C'mon Beverly, let's leave them alone. They need the rest." Mayor Goodway nodded and she slowly/quietly left the room so the paw patrol can sleep.

As the two got into bed after changing into pajamas, Mayor Goodway couldn't help but feel concerned for Ryder and the pups. Brittney noticed and she told her "They'll be fine ok? They're finally home in Adventure Bay but before you know it they'll be doing missions again and we wouldn't have to worry about the lab taking them ever again." Mayor Goodway smiled and she kissed Brittney's nose which made Brittney chuckled. "Thank you Britt. I love you." Mayor Goodway told her and Brittney replied with before the two drifted off to sleep "I love you too."
