The Cullens don't look back as they stride through the forest leaving Alice and myself standing in amongst the trees alone in the silence.I don't look at her but instead gaze misty eyed at the dewy ground. My feet kick at the grass each kick digging up lumps of earth as I wonder about whether I made the right choice.

"So are you going to make a break for it or come with us?" Alice asks curiously watching me through her honey coloured eyes. I don't reply as my mind debates the two options once more. After a long minute of thinking I look up at her. "I think I want to stay for now." I reply quickly before turning my head back to the grass. "You can trust us Skye we aren't going to hurt you." Alice whispers her voice twinkly and soft. I let my eyes meet hers as she slowly walks towards me.

As her hand goes to touch my arm I step backwards. Alices face falls and she retreats her hand letting it fall back at her side. "Sorry." I stutter not wanting her feelings to be hurt, anyone but Alice I wouldn't care...but she was different. Her smile grows once again and she tilts her head at me, her hair falling perfectly into place . "It's ok but can I ask why you won't let me touch you?" Her voice sympathetic and sorrowful. My hands run through my hair slowly as I ponder how to reply. "My skill," My reply was short and quick as I didn't really want to get into details about my personal life.

I notice Alice's eyes wander over me looking me up and down before taking refuge on my face. "Can you tell me what your special skill is?" She asks gently her voice echoing off the trees. My hair falls over my face covering most of my facial features as I nod my head. "First do you have a special skill?" I slowly ask letting my chin tilt upwards towards Alice's eyes. Alice nods. "I can see glimpses of the future." My eyebrows raise a little at how extraordinary and rare her skill was. "If you touched me or vice versa I would be able to copy your skill... my skill is that I mimic others skills when touched." I whisper playing with my fingers gingerly.

Alice's mouth drops in shock her perfectly white teeth shining in the light. "Skye that's amazing wow," I don't reply. My eyes wander around the scenery taking in the smells and the views but always seeming to land back onto Alice as we stand in silence..not awkward just silence. "We should probably go home," Alice says interrupting the silence. I nod my eyes dropping from Alice back to the ground as her eyes graze my face once again.

"Race you there." She smirks her feet already barely touching the ground as she begins to run at an inhuman pace. My competitive side breaks free as my eyebrows narrow and my feet fly into action chasing Alice down.

I silently leap over fallen trees and jump from branch to brach as I follow Alice to her house.I was entranced as I watch her running ever so gracefully ducking in and out of trees barely skimming the ground as she tries to beat me. I stay behind her enough that she can't see me but not far enough that I can't catch up to her.

I know I am fast... faster than most vampires, that probably has something to do with me as a human being an insanely good runner. I grin a little my face feeling weird as it isn't used to this position. Alice begins to slow down as she frowns trying to figure out where I am. I stay hidden until she completely stops which is when I make my move... sprinting past her flying towards the house.

Alice was a blur as I ran as hard as I could through the growing mass of trees. My ears pick up Alice's footsteps behind me getting further and further behind as I continued to run. Finally I picked up the houses scent in the wind and narrowed my eyes using the rest of my energy to get to the outside.

My feet skid to a stop as I pause outside the Cullens house. I turn around just in time to see Alice racing towards me her grin huge on her perfect face. "Your fast." She laughs admiring me a little as if seeing me in a new light. I shrug. "I know." I smirk feeling more confident. Alice raises her eyebrows at my newfound confidence and grins at me some more. "So she can smile huh," She teases gesturing me to come inside. I roll my eyes and look away a little embarrassed but follow her anyway.

"Ahh Skye you decided to come," Carlisle says clapping his pale hands together in excitement. Esme smiles delighted and puts her arm around Carlisle. I nod and look around the house.

I never really had a good look outside as I was too distracted by Alice but I could tell these people well vampires were rich. The house was made of a dark wood and was around three stories tall. There were windows everywhere and the view out of them was phenomenal, you could see for miles. The inside was beautiful, with the wooden floors and gorgeous patterned walls. Marble stairs ran up the sides of the walls obviously heading to more rooms.

I gazed around the room in awe as I hadn't been inside a house this fancy in well forever. "It's nice isn't it," Carlisle says looking around proudly. I nod still admiring everything. "So Skye tell us do you have a skill?" Carlisle asks curiously. I turn to face him and scan his face for any signs of aggression or dishonesty but his face looked completely genuine.

I glance at Alice out of the corner of my eye and notice her watching me encouragingly. "I um can mimic other vampires skills if I make contact with them." I whisper playing with my hands and looking down at the floor.Carlisle makes a noise obviously impressed and I look up at him our eyes locking. "Well the only people in this house with skills are Alice who can see the future, Edward who can read minds and Jasper who can control emotions." Carlisle says gesturing to each vampire in turn.

My eyes fall onto Edward finally understanding all of his focused looks and glares on me. His face was stoic and grim as he scanned my face again obviously reading my mind. He narrowed his eyes a little and looked from me to Alice and back. I looked away embarrassed and turned to the rest of the family...
