56. Trying to Save Mu Xiyue

What the guards said relieved Jun Luotian a little. For the sake of the custom, Miao King wouldn’t force Mu Xiyue at least. “I have fifteen days to get Xiyue out,” he thought, “Luckily, such a weird custom buys me some time.”

Miao King, in his palace, was preparing his wedding. A grand wedding for Mu Xiyue. She would be his queen, after all. Such a beautiful girl like her must be his.

“Go tell them,” ordered Miao King, “My wedding must be absolutely grand! Make it as luxurious as possible, however much it may cost! I don’t care! I’m going to see my future queen. Go preparing for the wedding. If my queen is satisfied, I’ll reward you. Do you hear me?”

He was happy. So were his subordinates. They could be greatly rewarded. What a nice day!

“Aye, Your Majesty,” they replied.

Since Mu Xiyue was caught, she had been locked up in a nice room, while Yanzi and the secret guards were treated in a different way. They were shut away in a dark room, heavily guarded. Mu Xiyue, on the other hand, was taken good care of. She couldn’t move freely, though. Every now and then, Miao King sent her valuable jewels and delicious cuisines.

Mu Xiyue didn’t give a damn. Instead, she racked her brains to get out of this place. At every meal, she checked the dished carefully if there was poison in it before she had anything to eat.

Without enough strength, she couldn’t manage to run away.

“What is my queen doing?” asked Miao King, out of the door of Mu Xiyue’s room.

“For your information, Your Majesty,” replied the maid, “Her Majesty is staying in her room.”

“Okay. Open the door. I’m going to see her,” said Miao King.

Whenever he was free, he came to see Mu Xiyue. He really gave much thought to her.

“How do you feel living here?” asked Miao King with great concern.

“Let me go and I’ll be feeling good,” replied Mu Xiyue coldly, giving him a hard time.

“You’re going to be my queen,” said Miao King happily, “Don’t worry, haw-haw, I’ll give you a grand wedding.”

“I don’t want that,” said Mu Xiyue, “I just want to leave! And I will not like you or marry you.”

What she said annoyed Miao King. “Don’t push it!” said he, and off he went.

Left alone in the room, Mu Xiyue thought carefully about how she could break out.

Having worked day and night to solve the flood problem and settle down the refugees, Long Yinfeng finally started his journey to Miao Region. It was slow, though. After all, his legs just recovered and he couldn’t stand a long-time walk or trip.

“Your Highness, don’t worry,” said Mo Heng, “You can’t do strenuous exercise because of your legs.”

Mo Heng couldn’t help worrying about Long Yinfeng’s legs, when there was such a long way to go.

“It’s okay,” replied Long Yinfeng, “I know what I can do. My legs have been better. I’m okay with the trip.”

Right at this moment, he thought of nothing else, except finding Mu Xiyue sooner.

In Miao King’s palace, since Yanzi was caught, she had been locked up in a dark room where she couldn’t even see the sun. Fear and concern filled her, not for the secret guards, but for Mu Xiyue. She didn’t know how much time had passed by, and so far she hadn’t heard anything from Mu Xiyue yet.
