Daria doesn't know what she's doing

Daria should have felt nervous – any rational person would think twice, prepare a speech. This wasn't a spur of the moment thing that you could come up with on the spot.

She was about to break-up with her girlfriend. Of course she was nervous. But the truth was that she and Reyna weren't meant to be together; they were both too explosive, too headstrong, and too young.

Daria could see her with some of the others around the campfire, grinning at something Jason said. Daria hadn't told anyone about what she was planning to do, mostly because she couldn't be bothered to deal with the reactions.

Because Daria, Reyna, and Jason were supposed to be the three of the prophecy. Anything that concerned them, no matter how private or personal, concerned the whole camp, and Daria hated to make a big deal out of nothing.

"Hey," Daria slid into a space between Nathan and Clara. "What's up?"

"Nothing much," Clara rested her head on Daria's shoulder. "Apparently, Michael and Koda got it pretty good from Daniel today. They have to clean all the storefronts in New Rome now."

Daria raised her eyebrows, warming her hands on the flame. "Michael got in trouble? How?"

"Dakota," Nathan grinned – Daria assumed he had something to do with it too, or he would have been pouting instead. "Somehow managed to set the pegasi free, and well, Hannibal's scared of horses right? And Michael was riding him, and..."

Daria rolled her eyes, a small smile playing on her face. "And they broke something."

"Not just something," Clara muttered disapprovingly. "Statue of Neptune. I mean, it's only Neptune, but."

"I'm surprised it's only cleaning the shops in that case," Daria snickered. She was about to say something else, but Clara tapped her knee.

"Why aren't you sitting by your girlfriend?" She whispered. "Are you two fighting?"

Nathan leaned back on the stone bench. "Can I watch?"

"You're horrible," Clara straightened up to whack his head. Daria loved the two, but she took the opportunity to leave.

"Hey, Rey," Daria meandered her way up to Jason and her girlfriend, pretending not to notice that Reyna had been watching her the whole time. "Can I talk to you for a moment?"

Reyna bit her lip. She wasn't stupid. She knew something was amiss, but didn't know whether it was good or bad. Daria could tell by the wariness reflected in her eyes. "Sure."

Daria moved to touch her shoulder, then thought against it. For a brief second, she caught Jason's eye.

I hope you know what you're doing, he seemed to say.

Involuntarily, her lip twitched up. The situation wasn't funny, but something about Jason Grace's warnings seemed to elicit that reaction from her. She shrugged in response – Do I ever?

They walked over towards the Field of Mars. Some legionnaires were still training, but most were just sitting on the grass, polishing their swords and catching up. Daria hated to ruin the ambiance, but she'd brought them here so that neither could raise their voices too much.

When Daria looked up, dark brown eyes were trained on her. "Reyna," she started.

"You're breaking up with me, aren't you?" Her voice was bitingly sharp; unlike anything from the duration of their relationship. "We've been together for two months and you're breaking up with me."
