Chapter 62

Driving home, New York was empty it seemed like. Not a crazy amount of traffic like usual as I got onto the freeway towards home.
"Why is it so empty?" I asked myself as I quietly enjoyed my drive home
"Its not that late." I said looking at the clock seeing it was only 10 thinking it was weird
I sped up a little bit I as weaved in and out of the little traffic there was hoping to cut the commute time down. Before I was almost to my exit lights went off behind me
"Fuck." I said as I pulled over and got out my license and registration
"Ma'am do you know how fast you were going?" The officer said as he got to my window
"No sir." I said looking at him and noticing he was on our payroll and watching him turn off his body camera
"Fuck. You scared me." I said putting my stuff away
"I am sorry Mrs. DeRosa. I did not know it was you." He said worried
"You are alright officer." I said as he did an awkward smile
"You might want to get new plates. I ran yours and it said you had a warrant out." He said nervously
"For what?" I asked
"Disorderly conduct. It was at your club two months ago. Remember I showed up and wrote you a ticket because the new guy was there." He said as I remembered the fight I got into with an old bartender
"What do you need to do?" I asked knowing I dont want him to get in trouble so we can keep him on our payroll.
"I dont want to do it ma'am. I know what your husband is capable of." He said looking down at his feet
"Look at me. I am the boss too. Your family is safe. But we need to keep you on payroll. You are one of our new guys right?" I asked as he nodded
"Well then you have to arrest me." I said as he shook his head no
"Look Officer Riser." I said looking on his name tag
"We sometimes have to follow the rules so it doesnt look like we have too much control. You wont be the first or last officer that has had to arrest me." I said as he looked skeptical
"This is a petty misdemeanor I have to go in for. All I will get is a fine and in that case I always pay double." I said as he looked concerned now
"Put on your camera and arrest me after I call my husband and lawyer." I said as he yes ma'amed me
"Hey Luca. I got pulled over for speeding. Turns out that disorderly conduct came back to get me." I sighed as he laughed
"Its one of our new guys on payroll. He is going to take me in and do the booking. Call Owen for me." I said before hanging up
"Alright lets go." I said as I watched him turn on his camera and did his whole arrest

"So you have any kids?" I asked as he said no
"Just a girlfriend." He smiled
"She know you work for us?" I asked
"No. She doesnt need to anyway." He said as we drove to the station
"Ah. I see." I said as we drove the rest of the way in silence

"What the hell boy?" The sergeant said seeing me walk in with handcuffs on
"Hi Phil." I said smiling as he took me over there
"I have a petty warrant." I smiled as he rolled his eyes
"When is Luca and Owen going to be here?" He asked un handcuffing me to do fingerprints
"Maybe 20 minutes." I shrugged as I stood for my mug shot
"Carrie you have more then a petty out." He said concerned
"What do you mean?" I asked
"You have feds looking for you." He said as his faced paled
"No I cant. Whats the charge on there?" I asked
"Homicide." He said
"Fuck." I whispered
"They will be here soon too." He said as the new guy looked scared
"Its nothing newbie. This happens all the time." I smiled trying to relax him
"Go home Riser." Phil said protecting him
"Can I have the nice interrogation room?" I asked as he chuckled and walked me to it

"Well well well. Looks like we finally got you Carrie." Rossi said walking in
"On what homicide?" I asked with a smile
"Yes." Reid said
"Look this is just a cat and mouse game. You have nothing." I said knowing its true
"Just answer what happened to Rodrigos wife Maria?" Rossi asked
"What do you mean what happened to Rodrigos wife? Is she ok?" I asked concerned
"She never made it to her husbands funeral. But you and Luca did." He said sitting down in front of me
"I noticed she wasnt there. I thought she fled the country to Spain or Mexico." I said looking confused
"Cut the shit. She was in Italy at the same time you were." He said
"I was there with family. I have pictures to prove it." I said
"Just tell the truth for once in your life Carrie." Reid said as the door opened and Owen walked in
"This case has been dismissed. You cant keep a warrant out for someone when you already arrested the killer." He said slamming his file down
"It was one of Rodrigos men. You know that cause you got him extradited here last week." He said as I smirked
"Her husband paid the fine for her disorderly conduct and thats all she had. Carrie come on." He said as Phil un handcuffed me and I waved as I walked out
"Keep the dogs off me." I whispered to JJ as she nodded
"JJ since you are in town stay with us." I said putting on an act
"Absolutely. Emily is it too late to put in some leave?" She asked following along
"Go ahead JJ. Take a week." She said smiling unaware
"Great. We will see you when you are off." I said smiling

"What the hell was that?" I asked getting in the car
"They are trying to pin something on us. Maybe JJ has something to tell us." Luca shrugged
"All for speeding." I laughed
"At least it was a payroll." He laughed as we drove away to go home finally
