your ghost

I wrote all dusk and dawn
Everything you said and did
Piece by piece I cut our body
And made a new you
Here I lay with a thousand frames
And a thousand poem lines
Staring at my muse
Inspecting all the idiosyncrasies which made you, you
I loved your ghost
The shadow behind you
The scent you left when you entered a room
The breaths in between your words
The sound of silence between us
I loved the ache your fingers left behind when you touched my skin
I craved for the aftertaste
The echoes of bitterness of the blood in my mouth
The tenderness of the wounds you gave me
I yearned for the embers in your fire
The aftershocks of your earthquakes
I loved your ghost
And the boy I saw him to be
Not you.
