Peggy Carters POV
Steve had been back for a couple of years when he suggested we sign up to hang out with the kids at an orphanage. Of course I agreed not questioning his reasons I had long stopped asking. The future really changed him. He still was his old self but he was really sad most of the times. I did not notice it at first but the more time I spent with him I noticed he was hiding his emotions. Which was shocking he used to be horrible about hiding what he was feeling but now I can barely read him sometimes. Today was one of these days we were driving towards the orphanage which by the way was a long way from where we lived but he said " I heard no one goes to this one " I knew there was a other reason but I once again didn't ask. We had been doing this for a year now, every time we walked into the orphanage he would look around and smile at a little girl with bright red hair. The little girl would smile the biggest smile I had ever seen and run up to him. Today was different the little girl was nowhere in sight, Steve's jaw clenched and I think I saw tears forming in his eyes. " Where is Nat?" The worker looked at Steve with a slight frown. " She is meeting her new father. " Then a door opened showing Nat walking out with a man with black hair and brown eyes. Steve looked at the man with hatred and looked as if he wanted to hurt the man. Instead he ran up to the little girl and hugged her tightly. They walked into the room she came out of. I went to go play with the other kids as the man left. I looked at the room Steve was in and slowly made my way over to the door opening it slightly. I heard singing that was deep and soft.

He was singing to a three year old but yet he was singing like he had known her for years. The song also was way more modern so I was guessing it was from the future. I looked at Steve he was sobbing and hugging Nat tightly. "Natasha don't let anybody change how you are OK? No matter what happens to you, don't let them control you.Remember you are loved and no matter what they force you to do you are still my hero. And nothing is your fault even if they make you think it is. I love you Tasha." He hugged the girl tighter tears streaming down his face. He kissed the top of her head over and over again. " I won't forget Cap." Cap? Did she know he was Captain America? " Now where did you get that name Nat?" She shrugged " You told me to call you that." Her broken English barely saying the words. When we started coming she didn't even speck English but now she could understand it and could speak it though she still had trouble sometimes but that was understandable. Steve was the one who worked with her. He learned Russian at some point so he understood her better then I did. Steve started laughing. " Yeah I did tell you to call me that huh?" He finally stopped hugging her and looked at her. I slowly closed the door walking back to the kids. It wasn't until we were halfway home when I asked him. "Why are you so angry about Nat getting adopted I mean we aren't meant to get attached to them." He sighed softly. " I will show you when we get home Peggy." We sat in a comfortable silence the entire ride home. When we got to the Stark manor, yeah we still lived there no matter how many times we tried to move away Howard kept forcing us to stay. Steve led me into the projector room where he told me to sit down while he got something. I sat there for what felt like forever when I heard Howard. " Oh hey Peggy what you up to?" I turned slightly and smiled seeing him there. " Steve is just showing me something. Care to join?" He nodded and sat beside me. One minute later Steve returned and put something in the projector and made his way toward us before turning off the lights. The picture slowly appeared. It was a room that was spotless. I person suddenly sat down in front of the the camera. She had blonde hair that went to her shoulders and green eyes. Howard opened his mouth about to say something but Steve got to it first. " No" I snickered softly knowing what was about to happen. " No what , I didn't even say anything." Steve rolled his eyes. " No you can't met her." Howard fell back into his seat. The woman started speaking. " Its been a month since the incident. We finally got Tony out of space and well newsflash he quit oh yeah he also blamed it on us. Everything is a mess but we will recover at some point." The video stopped and left questions in its end. " Steve what does this have to do with anything?" He nodded towards the screen " It will explain." The video started again in the same room but it was more messy. The woman appeared again this time her hair was starting to grow longer and at the roots of her hair was red hair. " Today is the incidents one year anniversary, I'm alone in compound. " Suddenly someone appeared behind her. She pulled a knife out of who knows where and placed in to the guys neck. " WHAT THE HECK ROGERS YOU KNOW NOT TO DO THAT!!!!" I laughed as I saw Steve hugging the woman, she hugged him back. " Come on I had to Nat" The woman Nat laughed and said " Well next time to avoid me killing you by accident don't do that." I looked over at Steve to see him smiling with tears forming in his eyes. Who ever Nat was she was important to him. " What you doing here?" Nat questioned. " I came to do my laundry of course." She laughed again " Oh really?" She looked around the room as if to see the laundry. " I don't see any dirty clothing." Steve laughed. " Can't I see my best friend on her birthday?" Her face turned to pure shock. " You remembered my fake birthday?" Steve nodded. " Your my best friend Natasha why would I forget your birthday even if its a fake one." I looked over at Steve. " Why does she have a fake birthday?" Steve turned his gaze towards me. " Nat has a very difficult past. Lets just say she never celebrated her birthday as a kid and was never told her birthday day so she has a fake one." That made a bit of sense. I turned my attention back to the screen to see that it changed again. Same room but way more messy and Natasha's hair was now mostly red with blonde tips. She looked at the camera with tears streaming down her face." Um I don't know what to say but. Thank you for staying with me as long as you did and I'm sorry not giving any of you an apology for all the wrong I have done in my life. Tony I'm sorry I hurt you, I didn't see any other way to try to keep us together. Bruce I'm sorry I had to bring out the Hulk when you didn't want him to come out. Thor I'm sorry I could not help you when Loki died. Steve I'm sorry I didn't find a way to move on I just didn't know how. Clint I'm sorry I could not find a way to bring them back without whats about to happen. Thank you Tony for letting me met Morgan. Bruce thank you for forgiving me. Thor thank you for understanding me in your ways. Steve thank you for being by my side when everything went crazy. Clint thank you for not killing me and thank you for bringing me to SHEILD." ' Thank you for not killing me' what did that mean? " Clint was sent to kill her but instead he saved her" Steve said knowing exactly what was inside my head. That was another thing he improved in the future: Reading people. Thats when she started singing the same song.

When she stopped singing it clicked. " Natasha is Nat all grown up isn't she?" Steve was now crying but he nodded slowly. Howard looked confused. " Whos Nat? " I answered his question as the words " In honor of Natasha Romanoff the Soul of the Avengers" appeared on the screen.
