Arriving at the funeral, they both stepped out of the car and people could be seen outside, paying their respects and some was talking to each other
Paolo was sitting inside, greeting the guests while sitting on a chair
They walked to the casket where their father was laying in. A piece of see through fabric was draped over his soulless body
They looked at their stepfather to say their last goodbye and did the sign of the cross in sync
They felt a pair of eyes watching them from behind as they looked at their adoptive father for one last time
Vincenzo walked outside first as Veronica stayed, kissing her two fingers and putting it on her stepfather's forehead
"Goodbye father" She whispered and followed her brother outside who was standing not far away from Paolo with a lighter in his hand
She walked towards her adoptive brother and took a seat in front of him. He smiled to Veronica as Veronica returned the gesture
Compared to Vincenzo, Paolo preferred her over him and they are pretty close
Paolo was chopping his cigarettes with a special-made scissor. Lighting it up, he initiated a conversation
"You could have done that after the funeral"
Vincenzo put the lighter into his pocket back and replied
"It was his last order. He told me to take care of it as soon as possible" He continued as Veronica pulled out her phone, not wanting to interfere their conversations and texted her friends to busy herself
After the men in front of her exchanged some words, she noticed that Paolo was glaring at her brother from the back
He put out the fire on his cigarette and said
"Vincenzo, my friend, my brother" Vincenzo played with his lighter back and continued to admire the scenery in front of him
"Now that I'm your boss, I'd like to see you be more loyal" He continued
"Paolo" And now, it was Vincenzo's turn to speak
"My brother. I am always ready to show my loyalty to you... As long as you deserve it" He finished and there was a clear dissatisfaction look on Paolo's face as Vincenzo walked away
"See you later, brother" Veronica got up and hugged her adoptive brother for a second before splitting up to catch up with her biological brother
She knew that Paolo had always disobeyed their father's principles and trusted his adoptive twins more than his own son
But she doesn't want to have a bad relationship with her adoptive family, so she stayed quiet
