Slowly opening her eyes, she found herself looking at a plain white ceiling. She turned her head to her right, where she saw her twin, sleeping peacefully with his head on the bed, holding her hand tightly
She realized that she's lying in a VIP hospital room
She unconsciously smiled but then the memories from last night hit hear like a truck. She wasn't sure if it was from last night or last week's night, considering that she was unconscious till now
Marco's words replayed in her mind
"Your twin brother knew that I killed your boyfriend a year ago"
She instantly felt emotionless, empty at the thought of her twin to hide such things from her. She doesn't want to believe it at first but after hearing the audio, she knew that he wasn't lying
Pulling her hand from his grasp, Vincenzo stirred in his sleep and immediately shot up when he saw Veronica sitting on the bed with her eyes open
"How are you feeling now? Are you okay? I'll call the doctor-"
"Is there anything that you're hiding from me?"
She asked and stared into his eyes as the man's brows furrowed
"What do you mean? Of course not-"
"Don't lie"
She cut him off again. But before he could reply, she stopped him by asking again
"Han Seo-jun's murderer, you knew about it"
His eyes widened, finally realizing to what she's implying at
"Veronica-"
"Isn't it funny? You knew about it a year ago, where I've been searching for the murderer for years. How could you?"
"I can explain. Please just let me explain first"
He pleaded as Veronica nodded quietly. As much as she hate her brother now, she wanted to know his reasons
"Marco is dangerous, he will do anything to hurt you and I'm scared that he could just lay his hand on you without me to protect you. Just like what happened yesterday's night. I'm sorry for hiding it from you-"
"I deserve to know the truth. Do you think I'm stupid? Do you think that I'm gonna act recklessly once I knew who the murderer is?"
Her eyes started to get teary
"I'm just scared at the thought of losing you. You're the only family that I have"
