Harry was running full tilt through the winding halls of Hogwarts castle. Hedwig had brought him a letter not 10 minutes prior. It was a message from Draco telling him to meet him in the Room of Requirement, and that it was urgent.

The letter was written in a short, clipped manner, a stark contrast from Draco's usual poetic writing. He knew something was wrong, he just didn't know what, or how dangerous it was.

Harry's chest ached and his legs burned by the time he made it to the tower steps. He desperately wanted to take a break, but Draco needed him and that was all that mattered.

He forced himself to take a breath before running up the stairs.

Harry ran through the door to the tower, skidding to a halt when he saw Draco standing at the railing.

"Harry." Draco breathed, turning around.

"Draco, what's wrong? Your letter said it was urgent." He scanned his eyes over his boyfriend, checking for injury, but his eyes lingered on Draco's left forearm.

"You know I love you, right Harry?" Draco said softly, taking a step towards Harry. His body was tight and guarded, like every muscle in his body was working against the urge to run to Harry and wrap him in the safety of his arms.

Harry was taken aback by the question, of course he knew Draco loved him, they said it to each other multiple times a day. "Of course I do, I love you too Draco. You're the most important person in my life."

"And you know that I would never voluntarily hurt you?"

"Of course I do! Draco what is this about?" Harry's mind was racing, none of this made sense. He and Draco were good together, they rarely fought, they helped each other learn and grow. They loved each other more than they ever thought possible.

Draco's breath was shaky and so were his hands, but he continued. If this was what he had to do to keep Harry safe, so be it. "He's in your head Harry, and he's in mine. He can't know about us, and if he already does we are both in danger."

"Who can't know!?"

"Voldemort! He can't know that I love you or he'll use me against you! He'll use me to hurt you and I can't let that happen!"

"He won't! I'll protect you!" Harry exclaimed, taking a step towards Draco, only for his boyfriend to take three steps back.

"You can't Harry! He's more powerful than you, me, anyone left at this school!"

"I- I'll learn Occlumency. I'll start my lessons with Snape again." Harry was grasping at straws and he knew it. He didn't know Draco's plan exactly but he knew it was more well thought out than his. Voldemort had lived in Draco's house, and as terrifying as that was, it meant Draco knew Voldemort and his abilities.

"It won't work Harry. He's too powerful, and too strong a legilimens for you to ever shield yourself from." Draco rubbed his temples tiredly. "There is no way out of this where we stay together."

"Than what do we do Draco!" Harry exclaimed, frustrated tears beginning to form in his eyes.

"The only thing we can." He drew his wand from his pocket, leaving it hanging loosely at his side.

"No. No. Draco please. Don't do this, we can find another way." Harry begged. The dam had finally broken and the tears were freely pouring down Harry's face. There had to be another way, he couldn't lose Draco, not like this. Not when they had just found out what true happiness could be.

"No Harry we can't." Draco said gently, comforting Harry even though he felt like he was ripping his own heart out. "It's, too dangerous, and I won't be the reason your safety is in jeopardy."

"Anything but this Draco please. You're the only reason I'm still fighting and I can't do this without you."

"I'm sorry Harry, I love you." Draco said, one last time.

"I love yo-"

"Obliviate."
