Well it's been a while, but here's the next chapter. This has been a very hectic year so I am sorry for the wait. I do appreciate everyone still holding on and voting it means a lot. I am working on the next chapter, but I need to do college applications still. I hope to update before Thanksgiving though. Enjoy.
Chapter 13
The fireballs were advancing closer to us, but before they could hit us Aang deflected them away with his fancy Airbending.
"I'll hold them off," Aang yelled. "Run!"
Katara, Sokka, and I sprinted down the corridor behind us. I looked back to see if Aang was following and ended up almost running into him. He took another path to find us.
"Follow me!" He yelled, running once again.
"Do you even know where you're going?" I shouted after him. We ran faster to try to keep up with the young monk.
"Nope!"
Momo, Katara, Sokka, and I were about to turn a corner, but Aang came running out of it.
"Wrong way!"
A fire sage darted from the hallway Aang had just came from. "Come back," he yelled behind us. There was no way I was going anywhere near him.
We made two turns before we were met with a dead end and face to face with the sage. We slowly backed up to the wall afraid of what would happen to us and Aang.
The fire sage held up his hand in a way of saying be calm. " I don't want to fight you," he told us. I scoffed at his statement, as if. "I am a friend."
We each stood in fighting positions ready for anything this sage threw at us.
"Firebenders aren't our friends," Sokka shouted. I glared at my older brother and he corrected his statement. "Evil firebenders aren't our friends."
The sage advanced towards us, and fell to his knees, bowing before Aang. "I know why you're here, Avatar," the sage declared.
I was curious if he actually knew or was simply trying to trick us to capture Aang. The others gave up their attack poses while I stayed alert.
"You do?"
"Yes," the sage stood up as he spoke. "You wish to speak to Avatar Roku. I can take you to him."
My distrusting nature took hold. "How?" I asked the sage. He didn't reply instead he moved a lantern aside to reveal a hole. The sage firebended into the hole revealing a secret stairwell carved from a cave.
"This way," announced the sage. The four of us looked at one another trying to decide if the sage was trustworthy enough. Before we could truly judge him for ourselves we heard a nearby voice say, "Find them."
The sage looked behind him with fear. "Time is running out. Quickly!" Aang, Katara, Sokka, and I shared a look and nodded in agreement. We entered the tunnel, with Momo behind us, and the sage closed the door to keep the other sages from following us.
As we walked along I examined the sage beside me. He was quite old with a crisply cut beard. It was brown, but you could see the grey hairs popping up. His face was covered in wrinkles of age and wisdom. The sage noticed me watching him. "My name is Shyu," he told me.
I was startled, but quickly regained my composure. "Kayta," I replied. "The guy with the ponytail is my brother Sokka."
"It's a warrior's hairstyle! He exclaimed, but I ignored him.
