Chapter 8

At another stop for rest, restocking food and water we sat on a natural patio. Underneath it flowed a peaceful stream. Sokka was off gathering food, while Aang and I rested upon the trees. Katara was just finishing rolling up the last sleeping bag, as Sokka approached, back from his hunt.

"Great, you're back!" Aang greeted Sokka. He jumped off of the tree and sat next to the others. "What's for dinner?"

I climbed down from my perch and joined everyone.

"We've got a few options." Sokka replied, he began pulling out items as he talked. "First, round nuts and some kind of oval shaped nuts, and some rock shaped nuts that... might just be rocks. Dig in!"

Sokka threw one of the rocked shaped nuts that might just be rocks behind him. I picked up one of the nuts and threw it at Sokka's head.

"Haha, very funny." I patronized him. "Seriously though, what else ya got?"

Sokka peered into the bag to see if there was anything else. A loud sound shook us up, we looked around to see what was causing the rumble. Another huge sound echoed in the forest. Aang pointed in a direction.

"It's coming from over there!"

Katara, Aang, and myself rushed toward the sound with Sokka following behind. We saw a person, so we hid behind a falled tree to watch. The boy moved a huge boulder around!

"An earthbender!" Katara exclaimed.

"Let's go meet him!" Aang decided.

"Wait, we don't know him!" I tried to tell them. "He could be dangerous!"

Katara didn't listen and approached the earthbender. I facepalmed myself at how trusting she is. She waved hello to the boy and shouted, "Hello there, I'm Katara! What's your name?"

The boy seemed startled, and dropped his rock. He ran away, bending rocks behind him to stop any pursuit. Sokka, Aang, and myself then walked toward the dumbfounded Katara.

"Nice to meet you!" Aang shouted after him.

"We just wanted to say "hi"." Katara complained, with sadness etched onto her face.

"He has to be running somewhere." I said. "We're probably near a village! That village probably has a market!"

"Which mean no nuts for dinner!" Katara exclaimed. We ran toward the direction the boy ran. In hope of finding real food.

We found the village, and it did have a market! I was with Aang, looking at a nice hat. Aang bought the hat, which he would share with me, and we entered a building that Katara went into. There stood the boy who was bending rocks, and a woman who I assumed to be his mother.

"-we saw you earthbending." Aang was saying. The mother became very shocked and she shut the windows and door, as quick as lightning.

"They saw you doing what?" The mother cried to her son.

"They're crazy, mom," he replied, "I mean, look at how they're dressed!"

All four of us looked down at our clothes. I personally liked my outfit. I know it isn't that stylish, but it's pretty cute.

"You know how dangerous that is! You know what would happen if they caught you earthbending!"

There was a heavy knock on the door, and a gruff voice roared, "Open up!"

Sokka went to the window and peaked outside through the blinds. "Fire Nation! Act natural!"

My dorky companions froze in some very unnatural poses. I on the other hand went towards a shelf and examined it's contents, trying to hide my eyes from their sight. The boy's mother opened the door, and a Fire Nation soldier entered.
