Chapter 2
It's the boy! His marking and eyes still glow white. When he stands up the light faded and he collapsed onto the ice. He slides down the groove of ice toward us, where Katara catches him. Sokka poked the poor kids head with the end of his spear.
Katara yelled at him for it, and I threatened his stick with my flame. That stopped him quick, The young boy breathed in and opened his eyes.
With a weak voice he whispered, "I need to ask you something."
"What?"
"Please... come closer."
"What is it?"
"Will you go penguin sledding with me?" The boy excitedly asked. Well I guess he isn't so injured after all.
"Okay now you can poke him Sokka." I said, annoyed that the boy made us believe he was injured.
The boy flew off the ground and rubbed his head. "What's going on here?" The strange child asked.
"You just were glowing and came out of ice." I replied. "I think we'll be asking the questions here."
"Yeah!" Sokka agreed. "How'd you get in the ice? And why aren't you frozen?"
The boy took no notice to Sokka's spear and batted it away. "I'm not sure." He answered.
Suddenly we heard an animal grunt. The boy became excited again, and climbed up the side of the now crater and slid in. I was to lazy to use all that energy, so I went around with K and Sokka following.
There licking the boy is a ginormous furry thing with six legs and huge horns. He looked a bit scary, but seemed friendly.
"Haha!" Shouts the boy. "You're okay!"
He turned around and hugged the enormous creature, then patted it's nose.
"What is that thing?"Sokka implored.
"This is Appa, my flying bison!" Replied the odd child.
"Right. And this is Katara, my flying sister."
The boy was about to reply, but his flying bison sounded as if he was going to sneeze, so the boy ducked. The flying bison did sneeze and it was a large wad of boogers that landed directly on Sokka. Sokka began to freak over the fact that he was covered in flying bison boogers.
"Don't worry. It'll wash out." The tattooed boy assured him. "So, do you guys live around here?"
"Don't answer that!" Sokka warned us. "Did you see that crazy bolt of light? He was probably trying to signal the Fire Navy."
"Oh, yeah, I'm sure he's a spy for the Fire Navy." Katara mocked. "You can tell by that evil look in his eye."
There he stood with a little innocent face, I just want to squeeze his adorable face.
"The paranoid one is my brother, Sokka." I told him. "I'm Kayta, Sokka already said it, but she is my twin Katara."
"You never told us your name." Katara said after waving hello.
"I'm A... aaaahhhh... ahhhhhh.... aaah aaah aaah AAAAAAACHOOOO!" The boy rocketed into the air with his sneeze, then came flying down. "I'm Aang."
He rubbed his nose, as if nothing had just happened.
"You just sneezed... and flew ten feet in the air." Sokka gasped.
"Really? It felt higher that that."
I gasped in amazement, "You're an airbender!" I squealed and Katara murmured.
"Sure am." Aang agreed. Sokka was overwhelmed and attempted to leave, but we're stuck in the middle of no where so it didn't work out. "Well, if you guys are stuck Appa and I can give you a lift."
Aang airbended himself onto the bison and I ran up Appa's tail. I ignored my sibling to talk to Aang.
"So Aang, is there anyway you could help me with something?" I asked, for the first time being shy in my life.
"Sure, what is it?" He replied.
"Well, I'm a firebender and-"
"Wait, you're a firebender? I thought you're from the Water Tribe."
"I am, but as you can see I don't look like my siblings that much. Well except for Katara, we have the same features. Anyway let me finish, so I was wondering if you could help me with my bending. Since you're an airbender I was thinking maybe some of the ideas are the same." I explained in one swift breath.
"I'd love to try." Aang said.
"Great, thanks!" I went back into the saddle where Katara and Sokka sat.
"Okay. First time flyers, hold on tight! Appa, yip yip!" Aang shook the reigns and Appa makes a loud rumble, flapping his tail. We launch into the air, but only to be brought back down into the water with a splash. "Come on, Appa. Yip yip."
"Wow. That was truly amazing." Sokka says in his usual sarcastic tone.
"Appa's just tired. A little rest and he'll be soaring through the sky. You'll see." Aang assured us.
I was feeling tired myself so I doze off.
I woke up in my room. I guess Sokka carried me in. I like to sleep in so I just relaxed in my room. Sadly I had to leave, because the whole village was gathering to meet Aang. Since Gran Gran likes Katara and I to have the same hair style, I put it up with the loops. I really hate my hair like this. After throwing on my jacket I went out and held one of the children.
"-no one has seen an airbender in a hundred years. We thought they were extinct until my granddaughters and grandson found you." Gran Gran was saying.
"'Extinct'?" Aang questioned.
Aang's question was ignored and Gran Gran was introduced. Then Aang began to fly on a glider. The little one who I was holding squirmed to get down, so I released her to watch Aang fly. He flew right into Sokka's 'watchtower'.
"Great. You're an airbender, Kayta's a firebender, Katara's a waterbender, together you three can just waste time all day long." Sokka complained.
I went to go do some chores, while Aang got to play. I finally finished my chores, so I went to go play with the kids. They were being forced to sit through Sokka's 'warrior class'.
"Sokka really? They're just kids." I said. I feel sorry for them, especially since all their dad's are off fighting the war.
"Kayta.. ugh fine go have fun guys." Sokka finally let in. All the kids were delighted and went to play.
"Thank you Sokka." I said happy that the kids were getting some freedom. I gave Sokka a hug, then I light his pants on fire.
"Ooh ah, It burns! Stop it! I'm so sorry Kayta!" Sokka screamed from fear and pain.
I kicked snow at him and the flames disappeared. I was laughing at Sokka when in the distance a light went off. It seemed to be coming from the old Fire Nation ship in the ice.
"Oh dear."
