Chapter 7
Aang spread his arms in a gesture of defeat. I mimicked him, Aang tends to be smart-ish about situations like this.
"Okay! You caught me. I'm the Avatar, doing my Avatar thing, keeping the world safe. Everything checks out-" He looked under the table. "-no fireb.. err dangerous firebenders here. So, good work everybody." Aang said as a cover. He put his arms around Sokka and Katara, we all stood up to go. "Love each other, respect all life and don't run with your spears. We'll see you next time!"
We began to walk toward the door, but the King's guards stopped us.
"You can't keep us here." Katara reasoned.
"Let us leave!" I yelled. First we get arrested, then I can't finish dinner. What is this world coming to.
"Lettuce leaf?" Asked the King. He picked one up and chomped on it. The King became very serious then. "Tomorrow the Avatar will face three deadly challenges. But for now, the guards will show you to your chamber."
The guard seemed a bit confused. "My liege, do you mean the good chamber, or the bad chamber?" He asked.
"The newly refurbished chamber." The old man responded.
"Wait, which one are we talking about?"
"The one that used to be the bad chamber, until the recent refurbishing that is. Of course, we've been calling it the new chamber, but we really should number them. Uh, take them to the refurbished chamber that was once bad!"
We were guided out by a couple of guards. They earthbended an opening into the newly refurbished chamber, and pushed us in. The rude guards closed the opening and we were stuck.
"Wow." I commented. "I should get arrested more often if this is the type of cell I'll get."
The cell was very spacious with three beds, glowing crystals as lights, and it was in a circular design.
I curled up on one of the beds and went to sleep, I was becoming stressed out and needed a nice sleep. I felt Katara get in next to me, but I was already on my way to the world of dreams. I was peacefully sleeping, but something just didn't feel right. I opened my eyes, it took a second for them to adjust, but when they did I didn't like what I saw.
Holding a squirming Katara and Sokka were two guards. I leaped out of bed and it was just in time, for behind where I was was another guard. He used earthbending to clamp my hands together and hold my feet down.
"A-mmmhhmrrm" I tried to call out, but the stupid guard clamped him hand over my mouth. He then removed my feet from the ground that held me and we all were carried off, well except Aang. The deaf monk continued sleeping.
We were dragged into a hallway with a dead end.
"I was trying to sleep!" I yelled at the idiotic guards. "You will pay for interrupting my sleep. Even your children will feel your pain. YOU DO NOT WAKE ME FROM MY SLUMBER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!"
My screams echoed off the walls, and boy oh boy did my guard look scared. Even the other guards looked scared.
"I could have warned you if you didn't have your hand over my mouth." Sokka casually stated. He knows, once when we were young he woke me up to see the lights and I lit his hair on fire. He learned his lesson and only let Katara or Gran Gran to wake me up from then on.
There was some sort of signal then and my guard undid the clamps holding my hands. He held a ring between his fingers and my wrist in his other hand. Another guard removed the wall in front of us.
The nut-so King stood with Aang and some guards. I was looking at them and didn't realize the crystal ring was placed on my finger. It tightened itself on my poor finger and wouldn't let go. I pulled at it, but nothing seemed to work. I attempted to create a flame in my hand to remove it but the guard must have notices, for he covered my hands in rocks, again. He left the finger with the crystal out and it already started creeping up.
By the time Aang began the task it had reached right below my elbow. The rock hands made it take longer to grow.
I ignored Aang and his task, so I could concentrate on breaking free. The mad King knows I'm a firebender, and he must know many of the tricks firebenders can do, to make matters worse I'm still a novice.
I have my fans though, and stuff to draw with. That stuff won't do me much good though, we began walking to another location. I gave up on trying to escape, I finally noticed that the crystal had grown even more. Now it had fully encased my body except my feet and head.
Aang had to fight someone that he pointed to, he chose the King.
"Haha! Wrong choice!" Laughed the King. He stood up straight and removed his robes, and underneath he had a very muscular body. I mean seriously you could bounce money off of him. I whistled at him. Katara gave me a rude look, I tried to shrug but it didn't work well.
"I can appreciate a muscular body." I informed my sister. She rolled her eyes and focused back on Aang and the very muscular King.
The King earthbended Aang across the stadium and jumped down in front of him. I was really worried for Aang, I mean seriously he is a monk and monks are pacifists. I hid my sight with my crystal, so I didn't have to watch the monk get destroyed.
I hid for awhile until I heard a large rock being thrown. I looked up and was shocked at what was before me. Aang wasn't crushed into a thousand pieces! He was completely unharmed!
The King guy appeared from the ground right before us. Test, yada, yada, name, yada, yada, riddle, blah, blah, blah, "I know his name."
"Wait what?" I zoned back in. "What did I miss?" I asked my disappearing siblings.
"I'll tell you when we aren't being consumed by a crystal." Katara answered.
Apparently the crazy King is actually Aang's old bff, Bumi. Also the crystal that had been creeping up on us was actually candy. We were released from the all consuming candy and I was finally released from the rocks around my hands. The crazy man apparently made Aang do all those tests because it was fun. Oy vey he's such a nuts old man. When they (Aang and Bumi) finished reminiscing I went up to the old man.
"How is it that you knew I'm a firebender?" I asked, it still puzzled me. Bumi looked at me with a wild look.
"The same way that I know you have a ying and yang birthmark." He replied. My mouth fell open in shock, barely anyone knows about my birthmark. How is it that this old King knows. "It was foretold."
I attempted to make him tell me more, but he only replied that he already said to much. I was left with more questions than answers now.
