Chapter 1 (Dream) ✔︎

the bright lights of London was something that i never knew i would ever get to see,
yet here i was
headphones shielding my ears from the outside world, my gaze fixated on the bridge that led towards the city—

a worried sigh escapes my lips, my hand reaching into the pocket of my coat and pulling out a letter
as the slip of paper unfolds with the help of my fingertips
my eyes began to read over the small black letters that had been printed

Congratulations Dream,

You have been offered a full scholarship to "London Technology Academy"...with the scholarship we offer a full dormitory for you to stay in until your year of studying is done and you can graduate with us in the summer! You will also still have some leftover dollars to spend for yourself so you won't need to feel the pressure of getting a job...that way you can focus on your studies!

an irritated and unsure groan comes out of me as i tossed the paper lightly to the side of me
honestly.. what was i even doing

was this a good idea? accepting a scholarship so far away from home?— i honestly didn't know
my best friend sapnap had moved to london about a year ago when he graduated high school, it was actually him who convinced me to even take this offer
" i think this will be a great opportunity for you dream— they don't really hand out scholarships to just anyone! and plus it's not like i miss hanging out with you or anything "

a small chuckle was made as i remembered his words— as much as i loved my best friend and wanted to believe his words of reassurance, something just kept telling me that i was in for a hell of a ride.. and i frankly didn't know if i was "tall enough" to ride this ride yet

i shake my head as i pull my phone out once more and hop onto my music playlist
scrolling down— trying to pick the right song to soothe my emotions
after a minute of searching— i just settled with the song i was listening to earlier

my eyes scanning the title of the song
" ..hmm guess this'll do "
i said to myself as i restarted the song and turned my volume to the max

the driver politely turns his head and gives me a comforting smile— the sight of a large building made me want to throw up from nervousness.. but i held it in
i quickly gather up my things as he unlocks the trunk of the taxi— but before i left, i reached into my pocket and pulled out a $20 bill and handed it to him

the look of shock was shown on his face as he shakes his hands
" young boy i can't take a twenty as a tip! "
my brow lifts up in confusion,
" why not sir?.. please i insist— take it" a smile spreads onto my face as the man looked so touched and happy— he takes the bill and waves me goodbye
