i awoke to sapnap sleeping next to me as the clock read 3:30 am
i looked outside and it was still dark out
trying to be quiet— i stood up and sat on the window ledge of the hospital room
admiring the beautiful night sky
"i'm going to miss this.. " i thought to myself

i heard sapnap waking up as his alarm had just gone off
i assume it was to check on me but since i was already awake he didn't need too
"Hey bro" i said as i urged him to come sit with me
he smiles groggily and i could tell he had a limp to him
but i didn't question it

" what are you doing dre?" he asks as he sits down next to me

"admiring the view"

"you've always been that way— you know that?"

"how sap?"

" enjoying the little things ya know?"

"well.. considering my condition— it's kinda hard not to"

"yeah— i guess you're right"
silence fills the room for a few minutes before i asked him where george was
"oh he had some— stuff to take care of— but he asked me to give you this"
sapnap then proceeded to hand me a flash drive and i looked at him in confusion

"why would george hand me this? what's going on? where is he?! " i began to scream

"dream—
i'm sorry, but fundy went to jail for a bit and they aren't charging him for anything so they let him go"

"what the hell?! why?!"

꧁ ✔️ ꧂ En Familia (Hombre De Peirda) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO LISTEN

"i don't know dre, but there's nothing we can do, but that's where this flash drive comes in—
because of this—
philza had to take george to the U.S.. and i don't know when he's coming back i'm sorry"

my tears began to fall as i held that flash drive in my hand
clenching it tightly
"but.. i love him.. why would philza— "
my sentence was cut off when two arms wrapped around me
embracing me tightly

"i'm sorry.."
said sapnap as i felt his hair brush against my face and the warmth of his body embrace mine
"i know it's late but.. happy birthday brother— i love you"

i couldn't do anything but cry on his shoulder for the next two hours
just crying—
just shaking—
just breaking down—
until the unthinkable happened that would forever change my life

slump

the sound of his hand hitting the window cill we were sitting on makes me look at his now pale face
"sap..nap?— what?"
his body hung onto mine lifeless.. no signs of life
"SAPNAP?! NURSE PLEASE COME IN HURRY!! " i yelled

but it was to late—
there was no pulse
no heartbeat

nothing

"Dream"

i looked up from holding my best friend, and saw Techno at the doorway with both sapnaps parents standing behind them
"Mr, and Mrs, Live?! what's going on?! sapnap won't wake up!—please!—"

"Dream my boy.. he's not coming back"

"what do you mean?!! what happened?!"

techno came next to me as sapnaps parents took their lifeless sons body away from me
"dream my boy— sapnap did something for you that not many people would do"
i looked at him with big tears in my eyes as i took a second to think
and then i clenched my chest
" he didn't.. " i said quietly

"My boy.. Sapnap came home for those four months he was gone from school—
he was trying to tell us that he wanted to donate his heart to you" his mom says

"at first we didn't want him to go through with it— but then he told us about what you had said—
"i don't want to die"
and that's when we remembered the promise we made to your mom and dad—" his dad says

"and what's that?" i respond quietly

"to let you keep living the live you deserve"
they both respond
i sobbed as i crawled over to sapnaps lifeless body
"but.. my brother— he's— "

both parents then wrapped their arms around me as we all cried together for what seemed like hours as the morning sun finally came up and lit up the hospital room

"sapnap wanted you to have the one thing that would always make you think of him for your birthday— " his dad begins to say as his mom placed her hand onto my check and bunts her head lightly with mine

"he wanted you to know how much he loves you.. even if it meant giving up his own life so you could live yours"
