Lizzie was restless. Her sister moved away to her new apartment for what's been a week after the incident with the one who shall not be named. Josie's absence affected her now more than ever. It was bad enough when she decided to leave the school, but now it was worse when she left it completely behind and found herself a new place to live, without her. For that Lizzie had no one to blame but Hope Mikaelson.

She hadn't spoken to her ever since that night. The only times they were interacting were when they had some monster problem to take care of. Besides that, she wanted nothing to do with her.

She didn't think she could be mad at anyone the way she was mad at her. Every time the thought of what she did to her, and Josie, crossed her mind, she was filled with the feeling of anger and betrayal, and most of all; heartbreak.

After a few more minutes of rolling over in bed, Lizzie lifted up the blanket and sat down. Her fingers crossed her hair as a slight sigh left her lips.

She turned her face around to take a look at the clock. It was 2 A.M. She decided to get up and go to the kitchen. If she wasn't about to fall asleep any time soon then maybe a little late-night snack would help.

She quickly brushed her hair, and went out the room wearing her nightwear; white loose t-shirt and claret sweatpants.

She silently headed her way to the kitchen, not wanting to disturb anyone and accidently wake them up. She entered the kitchen and then surprisingly saw the last person she wanted to see. Hope.

Hope was making herself some food as she noticed Lizzie's presence and pointed a surprising gaze in her direction, opening her mouth as if she wanted to say something.

"I didn't know anyone was here."

Lizzie said emotionless, then half turned around to leave. Hope stopped her as she spoke,

"It's okay, I don't mind."

"Well, I do."

Hope stepped out the counter and walked towards Lizzie, gently touching her arm, "Lizzie, wait! Please,"

Lizzie sighed and turned back to her, slightly raising her eyebrows in question.

"It doesn't have to be this way between us."

"What way exactly?" Lizzie narrowed her eyes as she crossed her arms.

"Look, I know you're mad because of what happened but you have to understand that I-"

"I don't have to do anything Hope," Lizzie interrupted, "I don't owe you anything."

"Well, you can at least hear me out. I'm trying to make amends here."

"Make amends?!" Lizzie frowned, "There is no making amends after what you did."

"So that's it?" Hope suddenly snapped, "You're not even gonna let me explain my side of the story?"

"What story? The story about how you've stabbed us in the back and was willing to sacrifice our lives to save your bird-friend?!"

"Well if you'll just stop for a minute and try to see where I come from, then maybe you'll understand that I didn't want it to be this way," Hope said, "and I really am sorry for the side effects of my actions."

"Wha-", Lizzie frowned, "Are you actually hearing yourself?! Side effects? Hope, your "side effects" had almost got me and Josie killed! There's no good enough explanation for what you did. How can you not see how messed up that is?!"

"I know it seems like I went too far with it, but you have to understand that I had no choice, Landon needed me and-"

"Ugh," Lizzie blurted out, "spare me the all "I needed to save Landon" speech. Your weird-ass relationship with the Muppet has completely messed up your mind."

Hope was shocked by Lizzie's words. She knew she messed up. Badly. And she wanted to make things better. But how can she do that when Lizzie is refusing to hear her out and being so insensitive towards her?

Hope's eyes twinkled as she took a deep breath.

"I suffered from loss, Lizzie. I was grieving."

"No. You were losing it." Lizzie said, "Trust me, I know what it's like to lose your mind. Been there too many times to know that you completely have. Starting with the fact that instead of dealing with your problems you decided to put them on the shelf."

"How exactly me not giving up on my boyfriend is a problem? And how do you even know that?!"

"Cleo told me about how you went all "my precious" with Landon's goo. She also told me about the creepy ass rituals you've been doing behind our backs to bring him back."

"Oh, so now you try to lecture me about grief?!" Hope shout, "You have no idea what it's like to deal with lose! You've lost no one!"

"Maybe you're right. But since I almost lost my sister a week ago because of dark magic I can say I pretty much got the all thing."

"I didn't mean for that to happen. I didn't wanna hurt you. Or Josie. But I had to make these drastic moves in order to save Landon. I couldn't give up on him."

"Just too shame these drastic moves of yours were meant to trade our lives for his."

Lizzie could feel herself starting to reach her limit point. She felt the tears coming to her eyes as she decided to ask the one question she wanted to ask ever since that night.

"Were you really going to let that happen? Let me die so he can live?"

Lizzie's gaze remained on Hope's, not leaving her eyes. She held every tear that was about to come out of her eyes. Waiting for Hope to answer her, wishing she would say the thing she wanted to hear the most.

"We both will do anything when it comes to the people we love. Just Like you said. You would do anything for Josie."

As she finally let the tear down she could hear the sound of her heart breaking.

"I also would have done anything for you."

"Really?" Hope raised a questioning eyebrow, "Because when I needed your help to bring him back you refused me."

"I was trying to protect you. All I wanted is for you to be happy, but I couldn't do it if it meant for you to go all dark and risk people' lives. I was trying to protect you from yourself."

"Maybe instead of trying to protect me you could've just trusted me."

"I did," Lizzie's voice trembled, "and look where's that gotten me. You almost killed me."

"I already explained you that I had no choice," Hope's voice softened as she took a small step towards Lizzie.

"Look, I know it's probably hard for you to understand, since you never had something as special as what Landon and I have-"

"Is that so?"

"But," She stressed the word, "maybe you can understand that I was also raised believing that family is above all, and that what Landon means to me."

"I thought I was your family too, but I guess I was wrong." Lizzie said, allowing her tears to come out freely. "Somehow, I found myself wanting to be there for you. To help you. When you came back from Malivore, I wanted to make your pain go away. But no matter how hard I tried, that wasn't enough. I wasn't enough. And I never will be."

Lizzie turned around, headed her way to the exit.

"Lizzie,"

Hope called after her, searching for something to say that will make it all better. Lizzie turned back for the last time. The tears that were on her face a few moments ago were already gone, and on her expression there was nothing but disappointment.

"Congratulations, Hope. You got what you wanted. But forgive me if I won't be your witness."
