Daisy's POV
"Just go to her, make conversation and ask her about joining the cheer team, she's the captain."
Huey and I sat on the bleachers and watched the cheerleaders practice.
"Okay, I got it." I got up and made my way over to the cheerleaders. "Hey Tiffany."
"Take 5, girls. Hey Daisy, what's up?" Tiffany wiped her forehead.
"I was just wondering if it was too late to try out for the cheerleading team?" I fiddled with my fingers.
She played with the whistle around her neck. "Not at all, we're still accepting persons. You can meet me tomorrow after school in the gym for your try out."
I smiled. "Okay thanks."
"No problem."
I turned away and walked back over to Huey.
"How'd it go?"
"Try out tomorrow after school on the basketball court."
"Great, plan A is in motion."
"Plan A?" Cindy came out of nowhere.
"The fuck is y'all silent niggas plotting?" Riley was at her side.
"They're gonna shoot up the school maybe." Cindy added.
"Mind your business, idiots." Huey packed up his bag. "I'm going under the tree."
"Right behind you." I grabbed my bag.
"Y'all some lames for real!" Riley shouted.

"I'm kinda nervous for the cheerleading try out tomorrow." I played with a single curl on my head.
Huey looked up from his book."There's no need to be."
"I never really tried out for anything before." I twisted my lips.
He gave a small smile. "Trust me, you'll do great."
I smiled. "Thanks Huey."
"Daisy! Huey! Remember we have our history presentation!" Jazmine called from a distance with Caesar beside her.
I gave her a thumbs up and started packing up my things.
"Nervous for the presentation?" Huey joked while helping me.
I shot him a smirk. "You know I'm not."

You did great on the presentaion today
Freeman:
Thanks, you did great too. The presentation would've been better if Mrs. Dover allowed us to removed the white kids from classroom for 15 minutes, so they could get some idea of what segregation was.
Me:
Honestly, but it's okay, we still did good. I'm gonna head to bed, I've got a day ahead of me tomorrow.
Freeman:
