Chapter 4: The Real Monster

Throne Room

No POV:

There was Naofumi, shackled and chained to the floor with only what he wore that night and his shield. He had no idea why he was here or what he had done to deserve this. Y/N wanted to just go up and free Naofumi from his chains but he wanted to know what was going on first before he did anything. All Y/N knew was that Motoyasu had woke him up and told him that Naofumi was in trouble. Apparently he raped that Myne girl, or tried to, Motoyasu wasn't exactly clear and Y/N was still waking up.

"Naofumi Iwatani, hero of the shield, you stand here accused of assaulting and raping your party member" the king said

"I didn't do anything like that, I swear" Naofumi said defending himself

"Silence, your actions are punishable by death" the king said

Naofumi looked around for someone to back him up but no one was coming to his defense. Y/N on the other hand decided to come forth and stick up for his friend when other's didn't.

Y/N POV:

"I demand proof for such an accusation" I said stepping forwards

The king was caught off guard by me coming forwards and saying something. He must of thought I would be silent and just sit on the sideliness with my head in the sand and blindly agree with whatever he said. Unfortunately he was wrong about everything and I was going to rip him a new one.

"What are you talking about?" The king asked

"Proof, I want proof that shows that without a doubt Naofumi is guilty, if no proof exists then he is innocent and she lied" I answered looking back at Myne who was next to Motoyasu

Now that I got a better look at it, Motoyasu was wearing the same armor that Naofumi had purchased the other day. In fact it was his armor, my appraisal skill wouldn't exactly lie to me. Something was going on and I was going to get to the bottom of it.

"If there isn't any proof, we'll be leaving now" I said

"Hold on, bring it in" the king said

Suddenly two knights came walking into the throne room holding something

"Here is the proof you wanted" the king said with a grin on his face

The item the knights brought in was a negligee and it was torn at the chest

"Okay, how is this evidence?" I asked

"This torn negligee was found in the Shield Hero's room" the king answered

"Lies, it wasn't in there when I woke up" Naofumi said

"He says it wasn't in there, so either there are fingerprints on there that proves he's lying or you have something more then circumstantial evidence" I said

I could tell that the king was getting extremely angry at this point that I was even trying to challenge his authority

"Y/N why are you even standing up for that guilty piece of crap?" Motoyasu asked

"Why are you wearing that quote on quote piece of crap's armor?" I asked firing back

Motoyasu looked at his armor and didn't say anything

"That's what I thought, I tell you why I'm sticking up for Naofumi because none of you won't, it's innocent until proven guilty, not the other way around" I said

"You have to admit, he does seem guilty" Ren said

"Sorry Y/N but Naofumi is just guilty" Itsuki said
