you fade away every once in a while.
when the flowers start growing from green climbing vines on the old wooden window in your backyard, you think to yourself that it's a perfect moment to just fade away.
when spring loses color in front of your lost eyes and the words on your mouth feel more jaded than a sigh, a voice in your head says, so quiet, "this chance could be mine."
when you're sitting in the middle of your parents' living room and they're laughing, perhaps at you, your sisters are talking about something that becomes a distant chatter in your ears, the window shows the world you've learnt to fear, you fade away that very second- why are you even here?
when the pencil marks on your old school books dull down and become difficult to read. when the pictures of years back still can't jog your memory of that day. when a cartoon you used to love is now forgotten.
when the people you spoke to on the daily have become an unfamiliarity somehow.
when the chirping of the birds becomes just a reminiscent sound.
you fade away. you fade away. why, do you fade away?
though you still can't answer that, i need you to know.
you fade away so often. but you come back just in time. & if i had to, i'll spend all my life between your hellos and goodbyes.

A/N : to me, after misery, comes momentary detachment, where i find myself not present in the moment i am in & my mind wanders far, far away. and this prose-poetry is about just that.
